The questions never end....

If I was looking for a fancy yellow diamond that appeared a kind of butter yellow (or champagne yellow color - not the brown diamonds), what grade would it be? Definitely not vivid I would guess but how far down the grade list would it be? My guess for the photos I''ve seen would be plain ''fancy yellow'' (which I realise covers a lot of gound).

Thanks everyone.

this is not a great image of this chart - but can you see that you probably want something on the yellow line in the ''Deep'' zone, which you would likley only get in a bigger than say 1ct size, and probably not round.

This is really complex stuff.

Its a term used to identify a yellow vivid hue (just like the yellow livestrong rubber bracelets that Armstrong was marketing with Nike.)
They are considered in the trade as the best vivid yellow.

As always - very helpful info.

Rich, unsalted land-o-lakes might be a little light, but definitely not full organic fresh market butter (which looks orangeish yellow to me). And defnitely not that dehydrated bathroom visit color either.

Gary, great chart, now I just have to read up in the link enough to understand it. If I go for a yellow, i''d be looking for probably a 2-3ct oval, so at least it would fit the non-round, large qualifier you specified.
