I've started a thread on Coloured Stones to document my finds in Myanmar, where I still be based for a few years.

Thought I should do one for these lovely South Sea Pearls purchased here too :)
Starting with this light creamy gold set. I got the 9mm-10mm pair of earrings first, before having the 12mm-13mm pearl pendant made. Not exactly matching but close enough for me.20170403_004620-1.jpg

I was offered this last year at a great buy. 16mm cream SS pearl. I love the size but wish I'd given more thought to the 18k WG with diamonds FB_IMG_1491158396660.jpg FB_IMG_1469837828625.jpg custom setting, which cost way more than the pearl and isn't quite me.

They're all beautiful! I really like your WG setting, and it gives you a more 'everyday' option with the YG pendant and a dressy option with the WG one.

So which farm did your pearls come from? I've only known of one vendor selling Burmese pearls.

Thanks, cmd2014!
NacreLover, like the jade auctions by the government, the SOE Myanmar Pearl Enterprise also holds yearly auctions in the capital. Plenty of jewellery shops here selling SS pearls.

A bypass bangle I had customised locally in sterling silver and plated with gold at the tips. I was offered the 2 SS pearls at a good price as the old aunty seller wanted to donate to the local monastery the proceeds from her first sale of the month.

A pair of different coloured misshapen SS pearls for fun, in 18k YG and a diamond atop.FB_IMG_1491245020255.jpg

13mm SS pearl ring in 18k wg and diamonds. This is also a local bench but with better skills and pricier labour charges!

A teeny SS pearl in what they call locally, old gold colour. I bought the 14k wg pendant back home and switched the freshwater pearl it originally came with for this. So tiny, around 8-9mm, but I love the colour.

A pair of SS pearls that I have in mind for a lariat necklace project. Still looking for the right design and inspiration.FB_IMG_1491245090357.jpg FB_IMG_1491245084011.jpg FB_IMG_1491245118177.jpg FB_IMG_1491245169578.jpg

My first pair of SS pearls in 18k YG. Simple dangle style. About 10-10.5mm. This also marked the start of a lasting relationship with my local jeweller and their family! After a nasty experience with a SS pearl pendant purchased from another pricier stall, I don't bother buying from anyone else anymore.

A pair of 13-14mm SS studs. They don't go with my pendant shade for shade, but I wear them together sometimes for functions owing to their size.

A pair of triangular shaped 11-11.5mm20170404_012457.jpg 20170404_012513_HDR.jpg 20170404_013040-1.jpg SS pearls made with 18k YG and coated with platinum. These slide onto my diamond hoops or plain hoops, depending on the look I'm going for. I match them with my ring usually.

Just for fun, I saw penguin and bird brooches on the internet made with misshapen SS pearls and had this made locally in silver, with the 2 tail and wing tipped rose gold. I was also given the tiniest of diamonds for the eye.

But since they sell SS pearls here by weight, this still cost more than I thought it would. 20170404_014146-1.jpg

You must be having a ball there. That bird brooch is adorable. Looking forward to more shots of eye candy when you go there again... Have fun.

You have some beautiful pieces. I especially love your bangle!

Thank you, you are all too kind :)
I'm still based in Yangon and will be here a couple more years.

I have these purchased over the weekend which will be set as part of a necklace, a ring and a pendant.

Very pretty! Do Burmese SSP come in the darker, 22k and 24k gold colours too?

Yes they do but are pricey :)

What a gorgeous pendant! You are very kind to give her such a lovely jewel.

My bargain 14mm Burmese cream SSP that is round and blemish free except where mounted at the base. Newly mounted on an 18k white and rose gold Hong Kong setting with small diamonds.20170924_173114-1.jpg 20171001_215856-1.jpg 20171001_215911-1.jpg 20171001_215917-1.jpg 20170924_172944.jpg 20170924_172905.jpg
Has a very woodlands feel. Iirc under US700 for this.

Totally forgot to post this. My first SSP pendant. Burmese white teardrop SSP that's blemish free! Good luster and proportions to boot. Set in 18k with diamonds, yellow gold coated with platinum.20171001_223230-1.jpg 20171001_223241-1.jpg 20171001_223306-1.jpg

Thank you, I'm really stoked by it too!

That white SS drop is beautiful ! I'm a sucker for a drop shape !!

You have picked up some great loot !!!!

That ring finding is so feminine and pretty.
But ...will it snag on everything?

But ...will it snag on everything?

So far so good on the 2 days I've worn it out. Except I can't use the hand with the ring to play with my hair which will snag on it.

My jewellers gifted this cz brooch with a small silver SSP to me for my advance birthday present. We chose the brooch together some weeks ago with me intending to purchase it, bit they only had the gold coloured version then. Lovely surprise :) and a good way to use pearls that are less saleable with these lovely and inexpensive settings.20171007_132749-1.jpg

Lovely deep gold ! Very pretty !
