I have been seeing a brownish tinge or yellowish on many labgrown diamonds. I don’t see that steel-like gray that I love so much on mined. If they are identically the same? What’s the story?

Hi, waffle!
If you're looking at diamonds of lower color grades made with the CVD method, then it's pretty typical to see brownish, brownish-pink, or brownish-gray hue. Do you have some examples of what you are seeing?

Lab grown diamonds come in color ranges just like mined and lower colors can lean brown, yellow, pink, blue etc. This just looks like a lower color - K or lower that leans yellow brown. You can absolutely get a lab grown that is colorless or near colorless just like you can in mined diamonds

some people are less/more colour sensitive that others
some people love warmer coloured diamonds

if i have learnt one thing in my time here on PS its that
colour is not the be all and end all of diamonds -be them lab grown or earth mined
some people prioritise cut and size over colour

i see the setting is yellow gold ( which i prefer)
that can play up the colour in a lower coloured diamond

is colour (or rather lack of) important to you ?

I don’t mind color at all, but I’m seeing a tint of brown in lab cut way more than natural diamonds.

It sounds like what you want is an HPHT lab diamond rather than CVD, as CVD can have a brown tint in lower colors. Or perhaps lab diamonds aren't mind-clean for you and it would be better to stick with natural.

Do you have some example diamonds that you can link to?
