I appologize if I ask a question or two that may be "forboten", but I am brand new to this list (just discovered you 1/2 hour ago) and I need an opinion please on an item I''m considering buying.

The item is a Tiffany, three stone, platinum setting ring with round brilliant diamonds as follows:

Center: 0.77 ct, color "G", Clarity "VS2", Depth 62.0%, Table 57.0%, Culet - None, Crown 35.1 degrees, Pavilion 43.6%, Girdle thin to medium - faceted, Polish - Very Good, Symmetry - Very Good, Ultraviolet - none.

Side: 0.33 ct, color "G", Clarity "VS2", Depth 60.5%, Table 56.0%, Culet - None, Crown 34.1 degrees, Pavilion 43.4%, Girdle thin to medium - faceted, Polish - Excellent, Symmetry - Excellent, Ultraviolet - none.

Side: .32 ct, color "G", Clarity "VS2", Depth 61.3%, Table 56.0%, Culet - None, Crown 34.3 degrees, Pavilion 43.1%, Girdle thin - faceted, Polish - Very Good, Symmetry - Very Good, Ultraviolet - none.

The price is $6,000 for the ring.

I can tell by your posts on this list that there is some serious knowledge here that I''d like to absorb.

Please give me your thoughts.

Thanks to the list.

This doesn't!

Is the ring 'Tiffany' from 'Tiffany' or not? If it is Tiffany, how come you have these numbers for the stones? The price seems attractive - looking for ideal cut rounds you may have a hard time getting the same for any less, to put it nicely.

And one more: the numbers look unusual: are those realy 43-s for pavilion angles?

I think Tiffany lists crown angle (') and pavilion percentage (%).

It seems a very nice trio. Well cut and very well matched... The price is not outrangeous, especially if we're talking about a Tiffany signed piece.

Yes, it is "Tiffany & Co." inscribed inside the ring along with "PT 950". The ring is new (I would guess 2 months old) and the documentation that came with the ring, and each stone, is what I have posted. Yes, the crown angle (typically 34.x) is in degrees and the Pavilion Depth is in percent (typically 43.x).

It looks like stones of this quality are $3,000 (for the center) and $1,000 (for the sides) so the stones may be "worth" $5,000.

Thank you for your comments, any final thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the angles/% confusion... I am used to get the same type for both. Upon correction these stones pass any critique based on numbers I know of. If there might be a higher notch of cut perfection, it can't be far from where these three sit

The prices for H&A stones on this site are not particularly 'off' in any direction, so your (and mine) evaluation of stones' worth should be ok. The ring is very much worth the remaining bit of the total price, in my opinion. few others woudl be as well made, and if so, probably not priced lower.

I hope to see the picture of this one posted around here in the near future
