Hello all. I've been browsing and admiring for a few months now, coming out of lurking mode to seek advice on what style of wedding band would best suit my e-ring, a solitaire round brilliant in the classic Tiffany six prong setting.

About the gem - was fiance's great-grandmother's. The GIA certificate is lost in the shuffle somewhere, but I'm told it said VS1/G or H, and the appraiser I took it to estimated 2.8cw.

Would love to hear your ideas on bands - would a plain gold band of similar width be the best option?

(My own efforts to photograph this ring have been abysmal. It looks like it came out of a coin-operated machine in this one. :nono: )

wow your ring is beautiful!!

As for a wedding band I think you should try to tie in the antique nature of your stone.
I love Disney Bride's rose gold bezel band, it would look great in yellow gold with your stone!

If you like matchy... plain edge band would be gorgeous and grand classic! My fav choice to show all the beauty of your diamond solitaire! Congratulations for this extreme beauty! :appl:

Thanks for the suggestions! That bezel band is so lovely. I am really flip-flopping on whether to do a band with bling or without. On the other hand, I would like something more unique than a plain gold band as there will be times when I wear the band only without the e-ring.

Luckily the wedding is still a year or so out, so there's time to decide... I've also been considering changing the setting on the e-ring!

Wow, you are one lucky lady to end up with a family ring like that!!! I adore a thin diamond band with a classic e-ring like that...and as you can see, that is exactly what I have! Tiffany has some beautiful 2mm diamond bands and it is a great place to go to try some on with your ring!!!

Thank you, diamondseeker! I'd spotted your avatar around and it has definitely tugged me away from my original "plain band" position.

I've been ogling that as well and bookmarked the thread. The engraving is so gorgeous - I almost want a band with just the engraving without the stones!

What an absolutely beautiful ring and stone. I agree with the suggestion of a thin diamond band -- a little bling but definitely lets your gorgeous e-ring be the star of the show.

What a beautiful and touching heirloom! You are certainly a lucky lady! I love the idea of the bezel band with your ring or maybe a small diamond band but let that lovely diamond be the star of the show!

It is very ironic that you said that because I have also been thinking of getting an engraved band just because I love them! Never hurts to have more than one band!
