Forgot to mention that when I went to Italy, I also visited San Marino (it's its own country)!

Indeed. I never went to Vatican City, but I have gone to San Marino! (It's closer to Genova.)

Does an Alaskan cruise count? It's practically Russia... ;-)

Definitely. If you go to Alaska, you can practice your diplomatic skills, ForteKitty! Ask anyone. Or watch, "The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming!". It provides a true documentary story that you can believe every moment of. Of which you can believe every moment. Trust me.

St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg's not a country. You listed a whole bunch of countries you had visited and a whole bunch of countries you wanted to visit...and St. Peterburg. If you look it up under, "countries" you may not get there. I recommend you go to Alaska. I am sure there is a way to get there from Alaska. See above. I hope I have been helpful.

Love,
Your friend,
Deb

PS-Your Siberian Huskies might like it in St. Petersburg. Even though St. Petersburg isn't in Siberia.

Not in chronological order

live in US
been to England
France (used to live there, Paris)
Italy
Guatemala
Belize
Mexico
Aruba
Hong Kong (wasn't China yet then)
Japan
Taiwan

list looks so short compared to others here!
Going to China--Beijing--this summer

If I could pick somewhere to visit, there are a lot of places I haven't seen I'd like to go to, but I would go to France again. Wouldn't mind living there again actually not permanently but for a couple of years. Was a lot of fun.

I'm jealous of the person who has been to all 48 states. I've only once been off the East Coast. I did fly over Alaska once though and I've been to Hawai'i three times--was not aware that Hawai'i is a foreign country (is this an Obama birther joke, by chance?)

Live in Scotland, been to:
All countries in the UK
France
Spain
Portugal
Romania
Belgium
Holland
Singapore
Japan
Canada
America
Poland
Czech Republic
Finland

I want to visit everywhere else that can be reached in under 8 hours on a plane. That's about as long as I can bear to be on a plane.

Oh, I forgot I had a weekend in Iceland.

I don't really have a favourite, I've enjoyed something different about every trip. I've been to France more times that I can count though, and we went there for our honeymoon. My only other repeat destination is NYC, which I would never get tired of visiting.

At the moment, my dream vacation is actually one where I don't have to leave the house for a couple of weeks. ;))

My list is *really* small compared to most of you. Some of you guys really get around!

US- live here. I grew up in Tennessee, went to college in Kentucky, lived in Seattle (Washington State) and now live in Atlanta (Georgia). I've been to every state except North & South Dakota, West Virginia, Kansas, Alaska, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Canada- Vancouver, Calgary, Banff
Jamaica
Bahamas
Mexico
France
England
Turkey (just got back and LOVED it!)

We're headed to South Africa on June 1 and will be there until at least Sept 1. I'm hoping we can hit up some other countries while we are there!

Oh yes April if you have that much time there you'll certainly be able to make trips! I recommend Lesotho > gorgeous mountains! And Mozambique and Namibia are amazing - Namibia if you like adventure stuff, Mozambique for the most amazing beaches ive ever seen (and ive seen some!). Lots of Sth Africans holiday in Mozambique so its a cinch to go there.

And Vic Falls, from the Zimbabwe side, is spectacular (not to mention Zimbabweans are lovely, and the place is much safer than South Africa!)...

I’ve worked for a couple of very large multinational companies that sent me to a lot of different countries over a 20+ year period, so I’ve been lucky to live in some fabulous places (some for only 6 months, others for a few years) and been able to have holidays in some of the surrounding countries.

So my list......

Asia-Pacific
  • Australia – my native country and where we currently live
    New Zealand (holiday)
    Tahiti (holiday)
    Singapore (work)
    Taiwan (work)
    Thailand (work & holidays)

The Americas
  • Panama (holiday)
    Curacao (holiday)

Middle East
  • India (holiday)
    Egypt (holiday)
    Dubai (work)

Europe
  • Scotland (hubby is from here so we go back there every few years)
    England (work & holiday)
    Wales (holiday)
Ireland, North & South (work & holiday)
    France (work & holidays)
    Portugal (holiday)
    Italy (work & holidays)
    Holland (work)
    Luxemburg (holiday)
    Turkey (work & holidays)
    Malta (holiday)
    Norway (work)
    Austria (work & holiday)
    Switzerland (holiday)
Liechtenstein (just for ½ day, quick walk around Vaduz and a bit of lunch. LOL - what is it with us Aussies and having lunch in Liechtenstein?)
    Hungary (work)
    Czech Republic –(work)
    South Africa (work & holidays)
    Germany (work)
Denmark (loads of times, cos when I lived in Northern Germany for 4 years we used to pop across to Denmark at least once a month to visit friends).
    Canary Islands (holiday)
    Cyprus (holiday)

Spain & Andorra will be added to my list next month, cant wait for that holiday. Then next year we have Cambodia, Vietnam & Laos planned (for 1-2 weeks in each).

Favourite place for living is Italy, specifically Milan (so good I asked to be sent there again. Did a total of about 3 years there). Least favourite place workwise was probably Dubai, but that was cos female engineers were almost unheard of in there in the early 90’s and they put all sorts of stupid restrictions on me. I asked to be removed after a short time there. Favourite place so far for holidays is Turkey or maybe South Africa. Least favourite holiday place was Malta.

My dream place still to do is Antartica, but the trip I want to do will cost about $50k, so that probably won’t happen unless I win lotto.

Yssie, Iceland is awesome so I hope you get there and have a great time!

You say your list is short but I am VERY impressed that you once lived in Canberra :o Seriously?! And of course, Brisbane is the best town in Oz (sorry Geri and HOT), so you chose well.

Hehe I'm guessing you're in Brisbane?

I grew up there, pretty much - loved it, missed it SO much when we first moved to the US! I've only been back to visit a couple of times - hopefully I'll be able to take DH with me next time, in a couple of years :))

I can't *wait* to go to Iceland!! I'll def be asking for experiences on here when we get around to it. We were going to go for our honeymoon actually, but then the volcano blew up all our plans

Good guess ;)) It's an ideal place to grow up, in my opinion! I think Pandora's sister and family just moved out here too. Come back and visit soon; you won't recognise the place :))

Sorry to hear about the volcano issues :knockout: Save your pennies for Iceland- it is hands down the most expensive destination I have ever visited, but SO worth it.

In my case, it was a Contiki stop for lunch. Good old Contiki bus tours

Great choice for your dream trip! It's mine too. Come back when you win lotto and post loads of pics.

Oh, I want to play! I used to be such a little jetsetter, but honestly I have no money or time for that these days. My job doesn't really allow me to get away, and now with wedding and family planning I just can't justify the expense of traveling. I miss being young and not particularly concerned about the future!

Lived in:
USA (currently)
Brazil (2+ years and then many, many summers and winter breaks in Rio!)
France (1 year)
Venezuela (about 2 months)

Visited:
Argentina
Paraguay
Puerto Rico (I know it's part of the US, but still!)
Spain (many times)
Portugal (about 1 month)
England (about 1 month and various short visits)
Ireland
Iceland
Denmark
Sweden
Germany
Belgium
Morocco (I went to Marrakesh, Tangier and Fez all by myself, which was insane!)
Canada
Italy
Vatican City
Monaco

Lived only in Russia and the US

Been to:

Romania
Hungary
Switzerland
Germany
England
Then moved to US
did not go abroad for a while except for Russia (was too poor to travel)
then: - Netherlands
Germany again (have been there so many times, can not but mention)
Italy (including Sicily)
England
France
Spain
Greece
Austraila

I think I have been twice to England (London), many times in Germany and twice in Switzerland. Most of these places I have visited only once.

I have been to some former republics of the former Soviet Union, and I do not know if I should mention them as separate countries, after all, it was in a different life, but since the culture is still different, here is what I have seen:

Ukraine (Its Eastern and Western parts, which are different, even in religion)
Belarus
Lithuania
Latvia
Estonia
Uzbekistan

Its really fun to see that several of you have visited Sweden! What did you think of it?
Always love asking that question, aint I boring?

Leaving in two weeks for SE asia, doing Thailand Cambodia and Vietnam (don't think we have time for Malaysia and Singapore). Oh and we will be spending a day in Kiev, Ukraine on the way.

Now I am only 23 and have the pesky issue that I usually revisit the same countries and I do several different cities. Oh and I am still a student so travel funds are not that plenty.

Anyhow here goes , in a pretty random order:

China (really recommend doing both big cities and rural areas, for China we did Beijing, Xian and Inner Mongolia).
Uruguay
South Africa
Lesoto
Spain
France
England
Switzerland
Denmark
Norway
Sweden
Finland
Estonia
Poland
Italy
Turkey
Greece
