Hi all,
I don’t know to do next. I could not sleep last weekend due to allergy and got up 3am so guess what I do to kill time. Of course..... I went on eBay and look for something that I don’t even know I need. I stumped on the Ritani setting for $500 in platinum Sz 6.25. My initial thought was it’s amazing... $3200 setting for $500. So I act right again. My ring size 4.25. I did not look closely and thought the pave on the shank just 3/4 of the way. I just again and it’s almost full. I am now panic!!!! What are my option? Would the beads allow to reduce 2 size?

Is there a local jeweler near you that you can take it to, and find out how many sizes it can be taken down? It’s possible you may be able to take it down a full size or more, but that depends on how much of that metal can be removed without compromising the pave.

No, you cannot size down a pave shank much, if at all. That applies to 3/4 or full pave. It could loosen the stones. I would only buy a setting with a pave shank unless it was my exact size or a half size larger and I would put in sizing beads. Even with a plain shank, it's not a great idea to buy a ring 2 sizes larger. I would definitely return if you have a return option. Otherwise I'd sell it.

perhaps adding a spacer bar on the inside and stacking it with a spacer and a wedding band would help?

If you can get a full refund, do that. Otherwise, drop a colored stone in it and wear it on a different finger with a spacer bar in it. Would still look mighty pretty.

Return it or sell it. It will never be right.

Beautiful though.

I would contact David Klass and see if he can resize it for you. He has done some great resize jobs in the past. If he says that it is a no go, then you can resell the ring.

A piece like that can't be sized down more than half a size without causing a problem for the side diamonds. Sizing balls could be added to take it down another quarter to half size max, but your setting needs to go down two full sizes. You're better off selling it and getting a new one in the right size.

What size center stone does it hold? It’s a gorgeous find- hope you can make it work! (But let us know if you end up reselling it somewhere:D!)

I had this same exact ring with a sapphire center stone. I had it sent back to Ritani and they were able to size the ring down.
I think I had it size down a lot. If I remember it was originally a size 8 and I had it sized down to a 5.5.
I don’t remember the cost bc it was years ago, but yes it can be done.
I think I brought it into a Ritani retailer.

It got the setting from eBay so I can’t return it unless item is not as described. It’s being shipped to me. I don’t have any color stone, but I have two diamonds could set. I think even the the jeweler can set down to size 5.25 i would be happy with it.

My sister just recently have simile setting 3/4 pave and my jeweler was able to reside down to 1 size without any issue. I will have him look at it first. I got such a good deal so I may just keep it and reset anyway since I wear other 3 e-rings.

I just looked up my thread. It was a size 8.5 and I had it sized down to a 5.25.
I bought the ring second hand and brought it into a Bailey Banks And Biddle store. They said they would size it down to a 6 with sizing beads but when I got it back they were able to size it down to a 5.25.
It cost $275 for Ritani to size it down for me.
Here is my thread.

Your sapphire is stunning! I love it. How were they able to get down to more than 3.25 sizes?!?! Well, there is hope for me! Isn’t $275 for size down on high price side?

I brought the ring to Bailey Banks and Biddle, which is an authorized retailer of Ritani. They did all the legwork for me. They contacted Ritani and sent it to them. BBB didn’t do the work.
I thought the price I paid was fine, considering I didn’t know anyone else who could execute the work and it was Ritani’s ring so they would do it the best.
They were able to size down the ring and also restamp the band in a way that the work looked flawless. They also left a small sizing bar in case of future resizing.

Thanks! I sold this ring a few years back. I just wasn’t wearing it as much as I thought I would.
Here are pics that I took from that thread tho. You can see that even tho it was sized down a lot, they managed to keep the ring perfectly round.
It was such a stunning blue sapphire.

I went to the postal office and picked up the semi mount. I love the setting but It's really big for my ring finger. Don't think the beads will help much. The good news its fit my middle finger but I don't know how I feel about wearing ering plus another diamond ring on the right hand. I will contact the local retailer to see if they could send back to Ritani.

I took the semi mount to my jeweler today and he says he can size down without touching/messing with the ritani label by removing the 2-3 stone of the melee but that will leave one side have less of the melee than the other. I told him to leave it alone and not to resize because it fits my middle finger. I have him set EOC stone. Will keep you posted it.

This came back from the jeweler after setting my .98ct transitional cut. The metal around the stone was perfect circle so the jeweler added the milgrain hoping it will improve the unevenness. I did not resize it. Here she is.

So glad you kept the ring and was able to make it work for you. $500 for a Ritani ring is a steal. It looks great with the transitional cut and the milgrain just adds to its vintage vibe. Plus, I'm thinking it's a pretty calibrated size (fits a 1ct. round) so if you ever do want to reset it with a colored stone, it shouldn't be too hard to find something else that will fit?
