Bought my diamond almost a yr ago & can't decide on setting.

So I have this gorgeous little diamond that my fiancee bought me for an engagement ring, but everytime I find something I like, a month later I change my mind. It is 1.19 Q color EC. I absolutely love the color & how much it sparkles for an EC. I really want a setting that can show off those two qualities. At first, I wanted a halo w/ pave diamonds sort of like the tiffany legacy? i think that's what it is? but I feel like I've seen it on too many other hands & I want my ring to stand out in a crowd.

So then I found this one that I've posted a pic of which I have never seen with an EC. It's beautiful, but I feel like it's overpriced (1600 for the setting and work alone).

I placed my diamond in a tapered solitaire, something I've never tried before & actually am quite fond of it, which will save like $1000 depending on white gold or platinum. Which is another question I can't answer. What should I do?

I love this for an EC- gives added sparkle anc coverage. I think the contrast betwen you Q stone and the pave/melee will play up the color well.

1500 for everything but the lower the better. money is pretty tight.

with a tight budget, i would set it solitaire bezel set in all yellow gold... like this...



if you want to show off the color, need to set it in yellow gold...

Of course the size of the stones in the setting would ideally be scaled down to match the size of your center stone. If you like it, it may be worth emailing the vendor to find out the price for the setting.

The more I think on this topic, the more I want to stick with a simple solitaire because 1, the price is right, 2, the diamond is so beautiful it doesn't need anything else, 3. it's a classic, 4, it's the most expedient (B/C I REALLY REALLY want to wear my diamond). Maybe in a few years I'll get an eternity anniversary band for that added bling factor

& Amy I think I'll go with you on the white gold.

i think you'll see more color with yellow gold, just my 2 cents, the white will wash out the tint

You might be right (I've sometimes thought the same), but I just can't see myself wearing yellow gold.

For $250 you can set it in a temporary white gold setting and then enjoy it while you decide on a permanent home, you know

Dreamer that's a good suggestion, this diamond is really beautiful and you should wear and enjoy it!
