Blue/Green Sapphire

Hi,

Anyone have any tips on finding green/blue colored sapphires?

I've searched through the vendor list, and could not find any blue/green sapphires that are similar to the posted picture below.
Also searched through Etsy, and found a seller called 'EidelPrecious' that seems to have similar sapphires to the picture below, though I'm unsure quality and cut of the gems.

I've attached a picture of what I'm trying to find.
Price range:1,000-10,000 USD
Gem Treatment: Unheated and untreated
Gem cut type (princess, etc): No preference
Gem Color: Picture below


Please feel free to let me know if I should provide more details!

Are you sure you want a stone that dark? It will look almost black under inside lights.

If that's what you want, I would look for Australian sapphire. They are often a deep blue/green.

That is a teal or peacock color. When getting a sapphire that dark, make sure it doesn't black out. More in the know people can explain dark vs saturated stones.

Also, this color is more often than not the result of heat treatment. And blue green sapphires will look greener or bluer depending on the lighting. It won't always look the exact shade you like. Make sure you like the stone in all or most lightings you will be wearing it in. This is especially true of Montana sapphires.

I hear that the teal sapphires are becoming an the next color trend, so there should be plenty of material available, though prices might be inflated.

I will echo that the OP example will be very dark in most lighting. I absolutely love the one @Obscura posted, as it sounds like mine in my avatar. Mine is very moody changing color in most light, but I love that. I can see why some may not care for that though. Good luck in your search!

FWIW it seems Madagascar sapphires often are that deeper blue/green/teal, and often very well priced in comparison to Montana or Ceylon sapphires.

Also remember that setting it will likely darken the stone's color a little as well. Depending on the setting.

Have you seen a sapphire that colour IRL? It will be black to a dark black blue with flashes of dark blue green only in really strong and good lighting.

I bought a beautiful blue green/ teal sapphire from Doug of Bespoke Gems. Really nice guy and his cutting is top notch. It doesn't black out even in poor lighting which tends to be a problem with this colour.
