Doesn't look like you got a whole lot, Missy. That's a plus!

Ah, it's doggy heaven out there. Mine would be in complete bliss. Griffin must be going nuts, Deb! Sounds like you live not far from where we did in Conn. before we moved here. We were in New Canaan, in Silvermine, which I loved for its woods & wandering old stone fences & antique houses.

Happy kids out there too, I'll bet.

Its now a beautiful sunny clear sky morning, here in Eastern Ontario! You'd never know it was a wicked storm last night... oh... maybe the 20cm of snow might give it away!! Its BEAUTIFUL outside my window!! Lily has been out and thinks that snow is the next best thing to a good chew toy!! She's leaping and bounding and frolicking in it - such a happy dog!!

Hope all is well on the eastern coast - hope all you PSers are fine with warmth and electricity --- and internet!!

There's so much freakin' snow out there. It's still snowing hard at 8:30 AM and the wind is ridiculous. We've gotten 2 feet so far. I just went to the lobby of my building and you can't even open the door to get outside because of all the snow piled in front of it. Plow trucks are out but the governor of my state and MA has asked everyone to stay inside until it's all over. The gov. of MA issued a driving ban actually. I was watching the Boston news earlier and they said this is the 6th biggest storm the area has seen since they began keeping records in the 1800s. I don't even think the worst has happened yet in the coastal towns. They're predicting flooding and the newscaster said the sea looked very angry. That doesn't bode well. I'm so not looking forward to digging out my car later. The only good news is that snow hasn't accumulated on the tops of cars because the wind has whipped it elsewhere.

Good Morning Deb, I am happy to report that we have power too! High winds? I better get the tv on to review the never-ending coverage on this event. I haven't measured anything yet, but am anxious to take pictures. I will also report that my dogs are not yet thrilled. The beagle mix is a bit un-phased by it all, even though I thought I lost her. I dug out a very small area just outside the door, and hoped that would be enough for a quick let out. She decided to jump in the snow and was completely covered. For a brief moment, my mind raced, how will I get her out fast, and then she emerged, and then she sunk, and emerged again, creating a nice little path all the way. I will say, for a girl from Georgia, she LOVES the snow. The greyhound, however, is really not impressed! They will both be racing around later today, and I completely look forward to that!

I bet your dog will be thrilled! Has he been out yet?

Hi, LV and missy! I am glad everyone came through the storm well. Hi to you, too, Jewel Freak. Indeed I am not very far from where you lived in Connecticut. I taught school on Newfield Avenue in Stamford near the New Canaan line back in the the 1970's and 1980's and many of my colleagues lived in North Stamford and New Canaan.

As for Griffin, he was never really let out in the morning. As with most nights, he spent at least as much time outside as inside! We never had a dog that that we kept outside before. Because we had normal pets (a Golden retriever, a Lab). When we got Griff he was already 16 months old and had been with his breeder all his life, living in a kennel. He was used to the outdoors. We got him in January. That first month he refused to come inside on several nights. I recall that the temperature was 17 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors. He had come from Cape Cod, which is even colder than where we live in Connecticut. But the breed is meant for Arctic life. He thrives on the cold. He likes to be free to come into the house and go out all night, but mainly for companionship. He is often outside all night if he wants to be. He is much indulged.

Hi Deb!! Glad all is well!!! Griffin is a love!!!

As of 10:00 a.m this morning, it's still snowing. Approximately 24+ inches but with all the blowing of snow, it's hard to tell. Some cars are buried and some are barely snow covered. I'm happy my car is in a garage. Driving ban may be lifted later but Governor has not yet decided when. Reporting from North of Boston.... Stay safe neighbors!

Missy - Thanks for sharing the photos! The snow makes everything prettier! I love it!

Deb - Glad to hear Griffin is enjoying the snow whenever he wants.

Wow, stay safe everyone! It's cool to see all the pics! Enerchi, sending Mom back to TO tomorrow - she's not happy about it! ;)

JewelFreak, my youngest Siberian would go insane! She found snow outside the ice rink here and starting making snow angels!

LV, those pics are awesome and your DH is so sweet!!!

We have only about 4 inches of snow here in manhattan.

I went to Newfield School for part of second grade, maybe it was third, I dont remember. My aunt lived there on Pepper Ridge, later moved to Shippan.

Here in Rhode Island, we had about 2 feet of snow. We could not open the front or sliding back door, so my husband had to climb out a window. Tens of thousands of people lost power, and the governor issued a mandatory evacuation of certain main roads. We briefly lost power, but then it came back. We have not seen a plow in a while, so we are snowed in.

LV! I loooove your pictures! And your DH is the best!! Look how happy your babies look!

Hi everyone, all is good here. LV those pics are awesome, great hubby. We got maybe 4 inches, is melting fast and is a gorgeous sunny day....

Hope everyone is doing well...

Stay safe and warm everyone! .. :wavey:

The meteorologist on my local news just said that our seacoast region was officially a blizzard due to the combination of snowfall and wind. In the rest of the state, it was considered "just" a Nor'easter.

I don't understand plow guys. This afternoon, we went out to dig out my car and move it so the space could be plowed. You wouldn't have believed the amount of snow that had been shoved in front of my car by the plow that had come by earlier. It was up to the hood of my car. It actually didn't take as long to shovel as I thought it would, and my husband was able to get my car out, but we were still annoyed. I get that the plow company doesn't want to be held liable by plowing too close to cars and running the risk of plowing into them, but come on. He could have gotten a bit closer and still not been near enough to hit anything.

I don't have any snowfall totals for Mid-coast Maine yet, but I do have some photos. I'll get them uploaded and posted soon. I'm guessing that we got between 24-30 inches, but because of blowing and drifting it's very hard to tell. DH does snow removal in the winter and he left home at 3:30 pm yesterday, he just called and said he wouldn't be home before midnight and that he will have to go back out at 6am. :((

edit: just checked and we got 33.5 inches! wow!!!

We ended up in the jackpot zone of 2ft+. Here are a few views from today......from inside my front door, and the pile-up outside.

Of course, one creature in my house (the one who didn't have to shovel off the deck/porch or have to snowblow!) had a ball with it! Snow is his favorite thing!

aljdewey, your dog is so beautiful!!! Wow you guys got a lot of snow!

Deb-OMG Connecticut got hammered with snow! But it's so pretty! Here in the city it gets dirty almost immediately!

Christina- is that your door? That's certainly a dilemma! Wow, over 33 inches! :errrr: Though I imagine that would make for some awesome winter activities (sledding, snowshoeing etc) if you can get out of the house that is! Hope you managed just fine!

Zoe, I'm with you. It just could be done better but I'm glad you guys were able to remediate the situation.

ruby-hope you guys are doing OK! Thinking of you!!

HOLY COW!!! That's a lot of snow out there!! WOW! I hope you managed to make it out - Alj, Christina, and all the other PSers that were snowed in... wow... we had it easy here.

Good luck to all - stay safe when shovelling too ... "heart safety" first!

Nope, we got lucky this time. Though the snow that is left is quite filthy already! :knockout:
Though where it isn't dirty is still is pretty! And everyone is enjoying it here-especially the kids and dogs as you said Laurie.

 I was out shoveling the walk and my son came to the door and yelled out to me, he stopped mid sentence and said 'um Mom?? You're not going to have a heart attack are you?' lol He wasn't concerned enough to put his boots on and come help though.

This was after the plow came down our road and we could go for a walk. Look how big Lily is getting!!
