Well it's not a ring, but I didn't know where to put it so it's here for now!
All the rage right now is to bling our your cell or PDA or sidekick etc with Swarovski crysals. There are places online (NYC Peach etc) that will do it for you, to the tune of $100-300 depending on who you use...my girlfriend is the only person I know locally that had done it and I loved it. I was going to get a new cell this month and figured I'd have it done professionally when I got the new cell.
Well lo and behold, I don't like any of the cell designs Sprint has right now and my phone works perfectly fine, it's just a bit scratched up. I also saw a friend last weekend who had done her phone herself with a different type of crystal and said it was not hard at all as long as you had the right glue etc. So I found the actual Swarovski DIY kit on eBay for $40 and decided what the heck. I will try it myself on my old phone since I now plan to keep it for another 6 months or so...until the next batch of new designs comes out and I see if I like any then....
I got the light blue sapphire crystals, the lightest blue they had, my favorite color. The kit arrived this week and I went to work yesterday. It took me 3 hours yesterday to do 3/4 of the phone. Today I finished up the rest in an hour.
It looks awesome! It was a bit tedious and I am not the best crafty person ever so it took a bit of doing with the glue placement and the 'design'..aka where do you start and how to measure to ensure you have room for X amount of crystals on one line....I started getting a bit off center towards the end but really all the worry was for nothing. When the thing is done, all you see is bling and I mean it! It's on fire in my kitchen lighting. In the car it throws those little white light dots all over the car. Fun! And all for $40.
The only negative for me is the top of the front of the phone...I was not able to do that because that is where the 'flip' opens up to and the crystals would have prevented the phone from opening, obviously not conducive to actually using it. Greg said maybe I could paint it or something so it matches the crystals...so I will have to look into that. It's also of course the area where there's a big scratch on the original gray paint, so now I really want to figure out a way to pretty up that top area.
So anyway here are pictures!! And if anyone wants to know where I got the crystals on eBay, let me know! It took just shy of 600 to do my cell phone front and back and antannae. I literally have about 3 crystals left, I was getting worried there towards the end!

Oh and thanks to Kaleigh for being my RAH RAH crowd on the sidelines when I was doubting I could pull it off and make it look good. That girl is a one-man cheering squad.
