Ooh, I hadn''t thought of tungsten yet. Not sure if he would like it though, since he loves the lightness of titanium. Or is tungsten light, also? I''m going to check that site right now.

The diamond subject on that ring is kind of funny. After making it on a site, I liked it better with all black diamonds and he liked the alternating look better. So, we''re going to going to alternate with 3 out of 5 stones being black.

"If he likes the titanium band, how about a titanium band with something inset into it? My favorite choices are 22k gold, platinum, wood, or mokume gane. Mokume gane is probably the most expensive option."

Wow, I knew you could inlay other metals but how do you inlay wood? And what is mokume gane?

Tungsten is very, very heavy but is virtually indestructable, so probably wouldn''t meet your needs.

Damn, I fell in love with some of those rings on that site.

Oh well, its his ring and he''s happy with what we''ve picked out. :)

Who knows? But it looks nice and is supposed to be sealed, patent pending etc..
These are from boone

Mokume is a method of folding and hammering precious metals together that creates a wood-grain or other organic patterns. It''s japanese, and it''s related to the method of forging swords.
This next one is also from the boone site, the tumbnail didn''t show it very well.

This is an example of tri-metal mokume from Krikawa

I think the mokume is a real winner, but I''m a bit of a Japan-phile.

As long as he''s happy. And I think the combo of the platinum stripe and the black and white diamonds will be stunning!

My DH has a tungsten ring from Bruce Boone with a platinum inlay. The tungsten is a slightly darker shade and matt whereas the platinum is slightly shinier and paler. Very subtle which suits him. He also likes the fact that tungsten is so hard. It''s about the same density as platinum so feels substantial.

I have seen how incredibly strong Tungsten is. While I won't trade my platinum ring in on a Tungsten one, I am always conscious of my ring and do what I can to avoid scratching my ring (can you san anal......LOL). I saw the Tungsten ring in a demo and to demonstrate its' strength, they scraped the ring against concrete and the ring did not scratch. Not at all. I thought that was pretty cool..........

BTW.....I'm glad you've both decided to go white and black diamonds and that he is being a willing participant in this process with you. I had my doubts about your fellow, but he has redeemed himself........LOL LOL

Hey! I recognize that WF ring!

My husband really liked the idea of having a band that was similar to mine and fell in love with the style of ring that we ended up with. His is done in platinum... he''s also a huge clutz with his hands. His ring''s taken some pretty hard hits but so far has polished up well. I sometimes wish we''d gone with harder metal so it''s less likely to get scratched and make him pout.

The black diamonds were pretty inexpensive, as I recall..

LOL. Best of all, I finally got him to admit that he likes diamonds. I knew he did because he got me a 3-stone diamond pendent and stares at it constantly, like he''s mesmerized by the sparkles. But he still claims its too "girly" for him, he''s such a goof.

rfath, I really love that ring and my FH loves it, too. Very unique. I''m actually glad he''s decided on titanium, I think he only wanted platinum because of how popular it is now, and now I don''t have to worry about it having a million scratches.

Thanks Wren! The only problem is I won''t be able to see what the ring looks like before I order it. I''m a bit worried that it won''t turn out how we want.
