I'm also very drawn to this one: http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/1-50tcw-round-brilliant-cut-diamond-3-row-band#.Vp2Wyppe6K2

My mom first showed it to me, and she's not going for it. I'm really drawn to the bright sparkle of the diamonds and the excellent finger coverage. My only concern is that if it's a hollow setting then I won't like it.

That's a lot of coverage, lovely. You get a few days to look when you buy. Very pretty!

It's tempting! I think I need to go to a B&M, try on a bunch just to see what my heart really wants.

Hmmm. Here's what I'm thinking: M colour, excellent/ideal cut. I'm going to try on a bunch of rings to figure out the best size of centre stone. Thinking either one solitaire, or a three stone ring with either rounds or cushions. Hmm. I've got some shopping to do!

Here's a weird thought... Could I get this setting, and then save up and out an asscher in the middle? Is that nuts? http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/art-deco-inspired-princess-cut-diamond-halo-ring-70#.Vp2U6PZe6K1

I wouldn't recommend that for two reasons:

1) Asschers face up small for their carat weight.
2) It's a bezel setting and resetting something else into it would be complicated, may damage the setting, plus you'd have to have exact measurements for the center stone and it still may not work out.

Another, perhaps controversial idea: if you want a 1.5 carat, just wait and keep saving. I had a specific size stone in my head for many years before the right thing popped up, in budget. Just getting the biggest stone you can for the money on hand might not satisfy you, either, and then you'll be locked into a specific vendor or stuck selling your ring on the secondary market, which can be tough (and you're in Canada, so maybe even tougher). </voice of reason> ;))

I wouldn't get anything that faces up small. Including step cuts and cushions

I'm liking the faceting on this pear and 1c. Pears and MRB's hide inclusions well. But cut is KING.
The largest well cut stone is what you should be looking for....you've come to the right place...
PSr's love the search!

almost 6mm x 8.5mm will be a lot of finger coverage...and more when set in a halo.

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/1.00-carat-i-color-i1-clarity-sku-805105

The MRB 1.22 N I1 would be nice but yellow.

Have you checked loupetroop?

ok, so i kind of love this idea...three stones for your budget! Ja's trade up just means you have to spend double... if you ever decide to trade up the center, it will be almost impossible NOT to spend 2k lol

Set it in gold, it would look like this very expensive Anna Sheffield ring

The faceting on this 1.27c OEC is perfection...the halo setting is nice as well. Don't know what your total budget is for stone and ring.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-49ct-OLD-EUROPEAN-1-27ct-CTR-DIAMOND-EGL-USA-FILIGREE-ENGAGEMENT-RING-VINTAGE/151955957185?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D4d28b07bb6784e0eadc2313dfc54a991%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D151955957185

If you go to their retail website (in Chicago) and then call them you can get a discount. This was posted on another thread about Diamond Zone.

That ring does look nice, but it's also TWICE her budget. Even with a negotiated discount, I seriously doubt they'll take 50% off... It's really of no help to the OP for us to post items that are so far out of budget. :halo:

The idea of the three stone with a brown diamond is really good. ...and it would look so luxe!!

I wish I could help, but I feel like Niel's idea is gonna be your best bet by far...

Best of luck to you, OP!! I can't wait to see what you choose! :wavey:

If 2 k is your whole budget. You could halo it like either of these stunners.
