I think for a 4 on HCA which didn't exist when it was but nor did even GIA's cut grade that it looks very good. No leaking dark bits. I would not recut it to be smaller, 10.45 carats I am sure is worth more than a 9 carat ideal cut, I don't know that, but you would need to check with real appraisers before cutting away lots of money.
I like the trillions, I think it would look more tacky without them. As you said you are very tall, it needs the right person to wear this and they would need to be tall in my opinion. Ofcourse that varies and people can wear what they want.

As a Brit who watched every episode of Dallas and some of Dynasty as a teen, the story really appeals to me too. Far too big and far too expensive for me but someone will love it. There was someone here with a similar ring, I will try to find the link so you can see her setting.
