I'm ordering the BGD Classic u-prong ring with plain band this weekend but before I place my final order I wanted to get opinions on whether or not 5x .30's would be big enough on a size 4.75/5 finger. I want maximum finger coverage without the stones hitting my other fingers. I'm kinda going back and forth on .30's and .33's.

BDG also told me to order 1/4 down from my normal size because this ring tends to run big. I hate wearing tight rings so I'm a little hesitant to take there advice. Would love to hear from anyone that owns the ring if ordering down is necessary.

Lastly I'm leaning towards platinum because everything else I have is platinum but I'm hesitating because I hate how platinum can scratch and develops a patina over time. If I didn't go with platinum would you suggest 18K or 14K white gold and would you have it plated or not? I know gold requires a bit of maintaining but that's okay with me.

The negative space between the adjacent Us adds extra breathing room, even though putting the ring on the mandrel will state whatever size you're expecting to see, so taking into account that the ring will "wear" like a slightly larger size is good advice. I like my rings loose, too, and my ring size is a 4, so buying "1/4 under my normal size" would mean buying a 4 because I normally buy 4.25s ::)

950/Ru or 900/Ir platinum, or palladium-WG (white enough not to require plating)

The difference between .30 and .33 are miniscule. Get what fits in your budget. I am 4.5/4.75 and when I close my fingers, the sides of stone touch the fingers. It doesn't bother me as I can't feel it.

This being will be the best purchase ever! I guarantee it!

Also, my ring was sized between 4.25 and 4.5. It's a little light getting last my knuckle but it fits my finger perfectly and doesn't spin at all. Maybe ask BGD if they can make the shank a little thicker so that you can shave it down if it gets too tight.

Here a pic of how it hugs my finger. Completely low profile and feels like its a part of me. My stones are .31's. Also forgot to add that this ring was made in 2006 and was worn daily by the previous owner and now, me. No patina at all and I've never polished it with anything other than a cloth. There's so little metal on top that I don't think a platinum patina will bother you . if I were to order this again, I would splurge on the stones and get the cheaper WG metal simply because there's so little of it. I think there's an x white that doesn't need plating.

Imo, 5 X .30ct will cover all of your 4.75 finger easily with extra weight spilling over to the side... Here's my wife's 1.27ctw on her 4.75 finger. The U prong setting will be wider than my wife's share prong setting.
