IMG_2343.JPG IMG_2344.JPG Check out my wacky stone. I know blue diamonds are commonish on this forum but it's such a novel phenomenon to me. This just proves how strong the UV rays we have here! I was told medium can't be seen without a UV light. The fluorescence can be easily seen IMO.

WOW!! that blue is looovely. Also eeek at that since I'm in NZ and we fry just as badly as you guys do..

That looks so beautiful. I have so much trouble trying to take pictures of my ring

Another Aussie, my mother has owned a high coloured stone for many years with strong blue fluoro that gives it a blue tint outside too.

Beautiful! Where is your band from?

Im so excited by this! Fellow Aussie who has ordered BG blue stone (medium blue) in a pendant- would love for it to be noticeable.

Beautiful rings!!

Completely off topic and sorry to thread jack but where are you based @foxinsox ? I'm in Welly, don't think I've spotted another kiwi on here before (not than I'm a proper kiwi, I'm an import)

We're all imports really! I'm in Christchurch - not many Kiwis here. I think there's at least one other I've spotted but I'm blanking on her username currently. I think she was in Auckland.
Love Wellington - the coffee and foodie scene is . Wish the NZ jewellery scene was a bit more exciting tho - I'm into antique stones and they are thiiiin on the ground here.

Aucklander here, also an import :mrgreen2:. I don't know how they price diamonds here. I played around with 'the diamond shop' filters for loose diamond. All specs the same but the most expensive 1.2ct had HCA 5.0.

I decided to buy offshore as the hassle of sifting through GIA reports wasn't worth it. And most stores sell already set rings with poor HCA, as long as the cert says triple ex.

Beautiful! Is that the wedding band from IDJ with it? It looks great!! I don't remember which you ended up going with after I posted all the pics?!

Kiwi here!! But residing in Cali.

I absolutely love blue flouro for this very reason, I find it so exciting that it's hard for me to even consider a stone without it. Yours looks so pretty!

IMO fluoro is like a secret superpower and it baffles me that it's negatively viewed BUT I really like that it offers a discount to those of us who love it.
Shellcm, I love your blue glowing stone. I imagine it's cut better than 99% of all the other diamonds you see around. Is it really noticeable?

Yes I went with their 3/4 option! But I think it's more than 3/4, maybe even 7/8? Anyway your pictures were a huge huge help! So thank you again!

Do you mean is the better cut more noticeable or the blue? The blue is noticeable when I'm in sunlight (even if cloud filtered). But it's not like a blue torch, I don't think anyone else would notice unless I was very still or pointed it out to them.

The better cut - I honestly don't know as I don't have much to compare to, it does look nicer than what I see in local jewellers though! Only a few friends have MRB, the rest are princesses. My friend with a princess cut did say though 'I need to clean mine' when our other friend commented that mine is very sparkly.

Cool stone foxinsox!
Count me as another lover of high colored Fluorescent diamonds...as well as near colorless MB/SB stones!

D My friend with a princess cut did say though 'I need to clean mine' when our other friend commented that mine is very sparkly.
I can never quite get over how seldom people clean their rings - mine get a clean every morning and every night but most of my girlfriends only ever occasionally clean theirs if they're at a jewellers that will do it.
And yeah - I was wondering about the cut. I've not seen a super ideal in person but I would expect that yours is like a spotlight compared to others.

Apparently the blue line isn't super ideal. I only found that out after purchase! But my prior to upgrade stone was a signature HA one and I don't recall it being much more sparkly, though I was without either for a couple of months so I might have forgotten.

I admit I haven't cleaned mine for a month or so as I didn't notice a difference when I did. I went to a jeweller the other day to see if they could clean it properly but they wanted to charge $60! This morning though I noticed there is buildup next to the prongs, so I do need to figure out how to clean it myself.

Very pretty. I am a fan of fluorescent diamonds.
