Bezelling a marquise?

Seeing all these contrasting yellow/white diamond/gold options is really giving me the itch to reset Ginger (my yellow OMC).

I didnt read all the post...thread got long but I agree with Neil. Faux bezel prong set. A lot of times you shut down all the light coming through the
stone when you bezel set it and it just ends up a dark hole with not a lot going on. Have you tried fake bezeling it in tin foil to see how it might react
when bezeled? Worth a try.

This has my vote. For the marquis, I think setting it east/west gives it a fresh yet vintage breath of new life. I absolutely love it. I do in fact love the bezel set and also like how David Yurman does their bezel sets. It's a bit chunky, simple and stunning. I know the example is an EC but I think it would also work with the marquis. Good luck!

I do love the chunky bezel. And like the idea of a faux bezel with engraving. I just don’t think I have the finger diameter to pull off EW

If this helps...I have a size 4.5/5 finger and wear a 6.33 ct center stone and 9.53 tcw ring....even though that's a whole lot of stone on my finger, I "manage". If you like the look, I think you could pull it off! I LOVE how my ring takes up all the real estate on my finger....try them on and see how it feels. The east/west was my first option if I had found the traditional EC I was looking for but then stumbled on the square emerald so that was no longer an option. It just looks so classy, vintage and yet somehow totally modern. It is also so totally unique. I have decided that I it will be how I set my diamond drop...If I get one!! East/west, Bezel. So much love for that setting.

I find their quality fine for a colored stone of lower quality myself I wouldn’t use them for hazel

Honestly my favorite setting so far is the one you posted. But doing yellow gold around the stone and white for the shank. Do you know who that setting is by?

Also would this be much different than a bezel in terms of closing off the stone? In the image the stone seems flush with the metal just like in a bezel

I love that style setting, but I would ask them (or whomever you go with) to ‘beef’ it up. I have one setting from there, and I found it to be quite ‘light’/thin in person compared to what the pictures revealed, and not near as sturdy as I’d like.

Good to know. Maybe I’ll just use it as a inspiration pic. Honestly I dont like tiny diamond melee so I might try to get it remade with just metal but with the general shape and prongs.

Oooh! That is one of my favorite favorite settings! Looks exactly like Jessica McCormack Diamonds “Button Back” design. I almost went that way with my reset. ShanAdams Jewelry does similar settings as well. And Erie Basin has a somewhat similar but beefy knife edge version, love those too.. exciting!

My heart stopped when I saw you posted an image!!!! Haha ok so it’s not Hazel but I am impressed by the gold foil. Can I buy gold foil from a craft shop, or....?

I got them on amazon. The are very thin like the foil that truffles are sometimes wrapped in.
The backs are conveniently silver if you want to make a “white gold” bezel.
