Having a cluster ring made with an OMC center. Vendor working on sourcing surrounding old cuts. I’m not sure if I should have a bezel around the center stone or not? I would appreciate your thoughts

Which would you chose?

I like the bezel better but it was a close call. I don't think you can go wrong either way because both are gorgeous.

If it's a consideration, the bezel might also give a little more finger coverage.

I like the second photo with the bezel and more definition the best. In my eyes, the center stone stands out more.

Can you give us more details?

I love the bezel!

Do you have an inspiration piece? It reminds me of diamondseeker’s ring.

I love a bezel and think the extra oomph in size is a nice added benefit. I vote bezel the whole thing!!

How different is the price?

How different is the price?

I am not concerned about the price as I have wanted a cluster ring for 3 years or so. I just want to get this right and not have remorse as it will be a custom made ring. I'm thinking that the bezel may be the way to go? I am liking the input!!!

I would just define the center stone with bezel & leave others with claw set. That’s just me :)

Kind of like this with a bezel? I think an omc takes on a more cushion like silhouette like this ring. I’m a fan!

Yes, I do like this however, this seems to be more of a halo rather than a cluster????

Plus the ease of wear with bezels is unparalleled. All those pointy claws would drive me crazy during sweater season. Just saying ... :)

I’m liking the bezel. It makes the centre stand out. I like the idea that @lucida818 mentioned with the bezel inside and surrounding diamonds with the claws.

Many thanks for your opinions. I'll keep all of you updated.

Which one? DS has many beautiful rings.

Sometimes, if i can't decide, I'll tell myself, go with the cheaper one, and if i feel a pang of regret, then I know that the other one is what I should pick!

either WILL be gorgeous

personally, of all the period cluster rings ive seen, tried on and loved, the ones that i found most striking were ones without bezeling the center.

as an example @diamondseeker2006 's sunshine ring.

ive a special fondness for ovaly old mine in prongs surrounded by larger old cut melee.

i could link examples, if you'd like me to. please let me know...

another consideration to bezel or not, is the condition and state of the girdle of the center/main diamond?? is it extremly/very thin?? does it have chips??

just my opnion...

Are the surrounding stones going to be whiter than the centre? I think the claw setting is beautiful, although DS’s ring looks to have a very fine bezel with milgrain and claws.

ds's ring might have a yellow gold cup behind the center stone. the millegraine edge we see might be the edge of that cup...

or it could be an tiny illusion/faux bezel. which is the least likely, to my eyes, because that edge would be higher up around the girdle of the stone, if it was an actual bezel...

Yes, that would make sense! Looks very pretty and makes the most of the colour of the stone.

Beautiful ring however I feel this is more of a halo rather than a cluster. Surrounding stones would be larger
