I've read through past threads and online articles, but haven't found a proper way to ship a high-value loose gemstone. Help appreciated.

USPS - Value of stone is higher than registered mail limit.
UPS - No loose stones.
FedEx - DVX service not available to consumers.
ParcelPro, Brinks - Not available for one-time consumer, I believe?

Is the stone more than 50k? I believe for registered mail they raised it from 25k to 50k if you are shipping domestically.

Wow, I just rechecked and it looks like you're correct. The stone is less than 50k, more than the previous 25k limit. I believe you solved my problem.. thanks Astro!

But, to answer your question, if it's above the USPS registered limit of $50k there are armored courier services that do this. Brinks and Malca Amit are the big players. Prices vary and it depends on where you're shipping but it can get pricey. If either end is a jeweler or appraiser, many of us have special insurance arrangements that increase the limits for the various carriers. Parcelpro won't work with consumers but Brinks and Malca will although it may be cheaper to make a deal with your favorite jeweler.
