Best Way To Sell This Piece?

I just bought (a week ago or so) a diamond bracelet from HPD made of platinum, 4-prong (that gives a round-ish look to it), 3.78ctw (6-pointers, 63 diamonds total), F/G, VS, and their premium melee. Bracelet is 6.5" long BUT comes with its original a 0.5" extension to make it 7". It is brand new, I have never worn it except to try it on. Even though it is gorgeous, I find it to be too small. I was not informed by a vendor that it was a final sale and my e-receipt did not say so either. I asked if I could either return it or upgrade for a bigger one. It turned out I could not. What is the best way to sell it without losing too much $$? Also, any tips how to go about selling it? How to figure out a reasonable price for both a seller and a buyer? (I am very familiar with selling, just not jewelry.)

Can we see some pics? I've not sold yet but I've bought many times on loupetroop.

Wow what a rainbow of colors :love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love:

How much do you expect to sell it for? Without revealing too much, can you say? Thanks!

I have no idea. lol. That is why I need help. I know how much I paid and I am well aware that I will not get that much back. I just do not want to lose too much $$$ as I am planning on getting a bigger one. It is brand new as I have not worn it except to try it on. Is there a way to calculate a reasonable price for both buyer and a seller?

What size are the diamonds? This is a beautiful bracelet! And how long is the bracelet?

Melees are 6-pointers. The length of the bracelet is 6.5" BUT it comes with its original 0.5" extension to make it 7". When it is 7", the bracelet has 63 stones.

I see. There is no right or wrong way about this. Since this is a brand new piece and it is never worn, sell it at your cost. It's too beautiful to go any lower than that.

I forgot who it was but something like this happened to another pser. So she ordered a custom ring from a very reputable designer and using a very gorgeous diamond. As soon as she received it, she knows that it's not her style so she quickly turn around and post it here for sale. It sold very quickly.

Interesting. So, when you say "post it here for sale"... Do you mean a Pricescope? If so, where on here?

FWIW and with respect I doubt you will get your full cost back; anyone paying full cost would prefer to buy direct from vendor.

I would recommend listing it on Loupetroop and Diamondbistro at 15-20% below what you paid, and putting up a thread in the PS Preloved Forum with links to your listings.

Good luck.

* fyi, custom jewely projects are usually nonrefundable, absent manufacturing defects or finished pieces substantially departing from what is set forth on the order/invoice.

Thank you for the suggestions! Just did so!

Thank you! It is gorgeous, indeed!

I am sorry this didn't work out for you and hope it sells quickly! Just curious as to what size you would upgrade to - meaning size per diamond or overall carat weight? It is a hard call when you can't see them in person.

I tried on a five carat ACA bracelet at Whiteflash when I was there. It was gorgeous and I think it would have been a good size for me but I honestly thought it would be larger. I have a half bezel five carat diamond bracelet and it is amazing how much size that half bezel adds!

That is a good question. I hear you because at first I was thinking of getting 3ctw. When HPD introduced me to 3.78ctw (priced reasonably), I was thrilled and thought it would be plenty. Well... it does not seem so now. (or I am just being greedy, lol.)

The current one is a 6-pointer and 3.78ctw, so I am thinking of 5ctw and 10 pointers. The size should be visible and I believe I would be more comfortable with that size.

I recently tried on a 4.5ct and a 6ct diamond line bracelet. I immediately knew the 4.5ct was too small.... i was drawn to the 6ct for an everyday casual piece that could also be dressy enough for a night out with my hubby! Can you get a couple cz ones to try before you buy?? It may help you to feel more confident when ordering the next one

Lol. I should have done so before I got this one :wall:... the company from which I plan on buying sent me a comparison pic of the two and I definitely liked the 5ctw much better (for the same reasons you did - casual but also dressy with a bit more bling)... plus, my budget can only stretch to 5ctw right now.

Yes, budgets can be a hindrance at times!! Best to stick with your budget though. I was just looking and planning, so I didn’t purchase the 6ctw bracelet, but it has been added to my wish list!

I think that is reasonable. Some folks like them really big but I think five carat is a good size. I guess I think of bracelets as an accent piece rather than the star of the show!

I do, too! I would not feel comfortable with a huge bling around my wrists... so I thought 3.78ctw would be cute and elegant. I underestimated a bit. 5ctw is the sweet spot for me.

@daisygrl for your listings, it’s always a good idea to state your refund policy, and what type of payment you prefer. If someone uses regular PayPal instead of F&F, for example, then you’re out another 3% of the total due to fees. What I’ve done in the past is offer one price for PayPal F&F, and another price with the 3% fee added for regular PayPal.

I usually saw them on “Preloved” section.

Curious as to how you specify PayPal F&F on eBay or LoupeTroop?

Thank you for the suggestion! Does one offer more guarantee than the other? I should have looked at the listings before I listed mine.

Regular PayPal offers buyer and seller protections:

PayPal F&F doesn’t offer any because it’s considered a way to send money between people, but not for buying and selling stuff.

@MissGotRocks
I don’t think eBay will let you take PayPal F&F at all, but I’m not sure. For LoupTroop, I usually just include my return and payment policies in the item description field.

I have sold on eBay. They take 10% of the selling price and then PayPal takes 3%. It is a big hit to your bottom line. I sold earrings there recently and they held my money for 30 days because I wasn’t a frequent seller of hig price items. If you say you will accept returns, it is 30 days and nothing less. Really ties your hands with the money. eBay has about priced themselves out of the selling market in terms of jewelry!!

Yes I don’t see anywhere where eBay allows the F&F option. I think they are more interested in covering themselves than helping a seller.

For this reason, I do not want to deal with eBay. I also do not wish to do a return policy and prefer the item being a final sale. I understand that, for the most part, people will not like it (chances of me selling the item are rather low in this case.) But I do worry that if I allow a return, they might swap the bracelet for a lower graded one...etc. It has been done before.

I just feel like I will have to lower the price significantly for people to feel like they could buy it being it a final sale. In that case, I'd rather keep the bracelet.

Most items sold on Loupetroop and Diamondbistro are sold "final sale" and "no returns" ...

I looked at your LT listing and suggest you edit it ASAP to include the final sale/no refund language at the bottom of your listing.

Also, I noticed your listing states "Credit Card (visa) payment preferred" - are you in the jewelry trade or have another means of processing a credit card payment? (I am just curious - and perhaps out of the loop - do private individuals/consumers have a way of collecting payments via credit card?)
