I found a ring I love. The jeweler told me the GIA said the following:

Depth: 62%
Table: 59%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good

Because the Polish and Symmetry aren''t rated Excellent, does that mean the Brilliance, Fire, etc could be better?

A lot of people thinks that excellent symm or polish = excellent cut... Actually this isn't true. Brilliance, fire, etc, etc depend mainly on the proportions. You have a 62% depth and 59% table, but since the stone has a GIA report, crown angle-height and pavilion angle-depth are unknow. To find out how good is this cut, you should ask your jeweler for a Sarin report or OGI, which will tell you all the informations about cut that aren't listed on your report. Differences between good and very good polish/symm are very slight andor negligible and recognisable only under high magnification.
Hope that helps a bit.

PS read the tutorial that this site offers, as it's lots of infos...
