I like the ring it self on this one but would prefer a difference shaped stone.

Meant to say different type of cut(emerald, radiant, asscher),not different shaped stone.

I like this ring the most of all the ones posted on this thread todate. It has all the features I want in a ring.It is also toned down enough and masculine enough that I can wear it as a 4th finger ringer.

The ring (E.B.) posted is the design I like most. It is shown with a princess stone.Which diamond type(asscher, emerald, radiant) iyo would look best in that ring? The size of the stone will be about 3 1/2- to 4 carats.

so-do you have any stones lined up?

Hi bgray

I''ve had a few vendors source stones for me in the last month but so far they have found near misses. My specs are not impossible to find but based on what the reps are telling me it could take a little time.I''m guessing the Xmas season may have played a role in there being fewer options with current inventory.Don''t want to lower my standards so I am willing to give it a little time.

Which stone cut(radiant, asscher, emerald) do you think will look best in the design ring you suggested? It''s my favorite ring design at this point.

Would someone here with Photoshop put a radiant, and asscher, and an emerald into this setting?
I'd love to see Erica's 3 ct asscher in there.

Hugh,

I think that''s a great choice for a setting, and I think either an asscher OR a radiant would look great in it. I''m not much help, am I?

Somewhat OT, but still relates to Hugh''s search: Kenny, or if you''re reading, strm- Is a table of 68 too big for an asscher with a depth of 69.4?

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/mens-bling-eyecandy-folder.116617/ That last princess cut diamond ring looks like a less precise (not as well executed) version of John Pollard''s ring in this thread.

I would want Mark Morrel to do it. He has CAD ability and he does amazing hand worked metal. Bes of all worlds, plus his style lends itself to men''s work much easier than Leon''s does (IMO). I''d ask him for a quote. He''s not going to be the least expensive, mind you, but he''s worth a call. Or an email.

My preference would probably be a square emerald with nicely clipped corners. An asscher can be a thing of beauty but good large ones are few and far between and they can seem a little busy--I am not a radiant fan because i prefer step cuts BUT a square radiant might be nicely complemented by the simplicity of the setting. One more thought that is really intriging is this --have you checked out the square cushions at Good Old Gold? A square cushion is less "hyperactive" than a radiant (facet-wise) and again the relative softness of the cushion fitted snugly into that geometric setting could be a dynamic look thats not as stark as say an emerald cut or asscher into that same setting. Sorry for the joycian rambling...

What''s the crown height? It''s not ideal, but if the crown height is okay, it could be nice.

I'm not sure- it just has a GIA cert. 3.02 D, VS1 Square Emerald

I know zip about asschers/sq. emeralds, but it looked nicer than most I've seen at that carat weight. It could be a total dud, but I thought the pros could take a look if Hugh's interested.

Doesn't say but considering how nice the pic is, I'd ask JA to run a sarin on it. But if someone wanted a good deal on a 3 carat asscher... https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/ericas-jaw-dropping-asscher-for-sale-can-it-be.138095/ I'd take Erica's and pocket the change. But then, I'd like a L over D if it saved me 30K+. LOL. And then I'd hope that whoever it was sold me the setting so I could get Gary at Finewater to cut me a gemstone asscher for it.

Seriously though. Looking for a big georgeous rock... this would be my choice.

I''m really feeling that emerald cut as maybe my first choice for this ring. Believe a square emerald would work best. The cushion is a very nice diamond.Would it be thought of as a masculine diamond? Its great that I''ve found the right ring design because in my mind that is 50% of the battle. As far as the stone is concern I have come close. Did find a 3.05 emerald,vs1,D with excellent specs for table ect ect. That 3.50 or above stone is out there.Just have to keep plugging away. One of my vendors has ask me to consider a VS1.Not sure I want to do that because the whole point of going with a online vendor vs high end is to get a bigger better quality diamond for less money.

I agree --square Emerald is probably first choice but a square spready mellow cushion could look stunning and masculine in that setting

Do me a favor and post a example of a 3 carat "square spready mellow cushion" diamond. I still have to get my second ring.

i find these mellow: soothing and antique. my next stone is one of these for a simple bezel setting

My husband and I (and my parents) seached high and low to find a decent custom designer here in Denver. We finally settled on a local shop that apparently does quite a bit of custom work for the Hollywood elite

. We loved our engagement and wedding set. One of the owners actually flew out to Las Vegas to deliver their anniversary set to my parents on vacation, so they were impressed lol. Everything seems top notch to me! Not sure if they would be able to do what you''re looking for, but here is their link. I personally like the cushion cut diamonds in men''s rings, seems elegant

Hello Hughrock, found this setting doing a google image search for ''gents asscher ring''. It''s on the 1st page of results, if you want to see how it looked like before. Using corel and modifying the setting, here is the result. Although could''ve erased those side accent stones on the sides, I intentionally left them just to see the effect.
