Best and worst (non-round) shape for earring studs?

That is a great question to ask.

I have never given much thought of what would cause them to spin.

It bothers me a little, but not to the point that i have anxiety over it, or have to check in the mirror every 5 mins to make sure they are sitting correctly. I reason to myself that they have moved / are going to move/spin and if they are in a different position to when i had them in the morning when i see it during the day in the mirror (cos that is the only time i would notice it); then, i correct the position. It is not a real big issue, cos i don't know how long that earring was not in the same position as i had placed it in the morning.

However, since you had asked how an earring would spin when it is closely attached to the ear, I had a bit of a think.. and, i came up with the following...

note: it isn't an exhaustive list and not all of it has happened to me. just thinking off the top of my head...

1) phone use- especially if using the phone against the ear. or putting ear phones/ airpods in/ out of ears
2) brushing wispy hair away from face and tucking it behind ear/ redoing hair/ hair getting caught on the earring and you just brush hair away, not really give a moment's thought about the earring. I wear mask, and this happened this week: the loop got caught on the earring and i unlooped the mask and didn't think to check the earring at that time. but the earring did move position/ spin.
3) re doing make-up- the brushing around the side of the face then lightly touching ear?
4) shower/ shampooing of hair in particular long hair.
5) blow drying hair and the hand brush, brushing past ear
5) passionate event
6) how loose/ tight the earring back is secured to the post
7) taking glasses/ sunglasses on/off
8.) exercising and then wiping face with arm/ towel to get sweat off
9) the size of the ear lobe, position of the piercing, size of the stud
10) use of headphones
11) hair band repositioning
12) if riding a bike and the bike helmet is used- the action of putting it on, and taking it off
13) taking off sweater/ layers of clothing that involves pulling item over head
14) taking seat belt off carelessly, and the seat belt catches the ear, or ear hits the head rest?
15) lying down for a nap with earrings in
16) swimming in a swimming pool with lane ropes, and swimming too close to the lane ropes and your ear brushes past it... it happened to me and it bent my earring post, and stretched my ear piercing hole. So sometimes, during the day, the earring on the right ear drops a little and it doesn't sit at the same level as other side. When i notice it, i correct the position, It isn't annoying enough for me to have corrective surgery. and you would think that this ear would be the one that would have the earring spin the most, but, the spin of the earring happens to both ears.
The second #5) Passionate event :lol-2:
