I recently bought a RB diamond from Whiteflash and just got it appraised. I picked an ideal cut stone out of their Expert selection and it was appraised for $3000 more than what I paid. As nervous and unsure as I was about buying a diamond online, now I''m not sure I will ever buy one in a B&M store. My experience has been perfect, I strongly recommend at least considering the online route.
As a side note, I was also able to get Robbins Bros to do a price match on a Ritani setting that I wanted. Although they did it begrudgingly, they came down over $600 from their price to make this happen. I was originally going to buy the setting from BBB but Robbins Bros is much closer to my home, so I figured I''d give them a call and see if I could get them to match the price. To my surprise, they did. I attribute this to online vendors as well.
My point is...do your homework before you buy. If you''re going to buy a designer setting, shop around online, find a few places that carry the setting you want, and get the stores to compete with each other. Price guarantees/matches are difficult to get on stones since no two diamonds are alike, but settings are an entirely different story. Don''t be afraid to ask, you might be surprised when you get your way!
