Hello All!
I've recently been entertaining the idea of adding a halo to mh e-ring..
However, replacing the setting is not an option.
Any ideas if this is possible for mine? Do you guys have a modified ring?

I wouldn't do it. Is your ring is extremely sentimental, and that's why getting a new setting is not an option? What would you do if the person adding a halo permanently damaged the setting beyond repair? I speak from experience in having my engagement ring altered and then ultimately lost forever, and it was heartbreaking :'(

Although I'm just now getting back into the search for a new set and it does make me realize it's just a ring and the meaning behind it is still there. Maybe you could have the gold melted and reuse the same stones, so it's technically the same ring, just in a different shape? I imagine adding a halo to that style would be difficult - but I am not speaking from experience there so I could be totally wrong. Can we see a down view shot of your ring?

Oh goodness! I'm sorry for that experience :(
It is a sentimental piece of jewelry, but it's also a matter of taste differences.
Regardless, the meaning behind it is more powerful

I don't really follow. Taste difference?

Either way, I can't imagine how a halo would work with your setting - it looks very high. I'd just get a new setting.

Stuller .com has peg head halos in the Findings section. Whether or not any of them have correct proportions and character for your ring, I don't know. Here's one: http://www.stuller.com/products/28251/3622982/?groupId=108970

A good bench jeweler could make one. But getting the look just right may not work out, depending on what end result you are striving for.

I'm thinking you will need a whole new setting.

If the setting is so sentimental why are you trying to change it? Because you're sentimental and want a cooler looking ring too? :naughty: It might get ruined entirely and that would feel worse than not having a halo.
Even if you were able to add the halo much of the original ring would be gone defeating the purpose. You can use that halo money on the setting.
You can be sentimental and have a halo too, but not that way.
If you improve on the ring like using the diamond in a new halo ring YOU will then have something even better to pass on from whom ever you got it, plus you will enjoy it right now.
You could use the old setting and put your birthstone or the birthstone of whom ever the ring is from and wear it on your right hand. Then you have two reminders and two rings you could pass on too. That is sentimental. I go through sentimental torture all the time. This is just my stupid opinion. :loopy: I hope it gives you ideas.

TC1987 that is such a cool suggestion (peg head)! Now I know such a thing exists.

genius idea!

I don't think a halo peg setting will fit on your ring. You'd be adding at least 3-4mm to the diameter of the setting, and it doesn't look like you've got the space for that.
