If you''re on a budget then definitely check out AAA Diamonds in Dundas Square. My brother got a beautiful ring there. If you''re really particular then you might not be satisfied but they have a decent inventory of loose stones and good service. My brother got a 1.1 carat pear shape with bagettes set in white gold for $5000 cash (you pay in cash -- no tax) - it''s a very nice ring.

I ended up buying from Blue Nile Canada - I definitely paid more but I was particular about the specifics of the stone and needed the GIA/AGS certification.
