Some of you were very helpful the past month while I searched for diamond earrings and may remember I ordered some from WF - K color 80 pts each ear. I got this this week (WF photo attached, don''t have my own pics yet). The stones are nice and sparkly and plenty big for me. They appraised as expected. I feel I got a very good deal from WF. I think the only way I could have done better would have been from a private party distress sale. The appraiser''s comments were basically that I got better clarity that he thought necessary for earrings (one stone is VS) but could have sacrificed some clarity and gone up a bit in color. But all in all he said they were nice and well cut.

So I did well with the diamonds. The martini-set platinum mountings are giving me a bit of trouble though. One of the backs is pretty tight but the other slides easily on and off the post. I asked WF about this and she said as long as the post has the little indentation, they are safe. However, the appraiser commented on this (without me bringing it up). He urged me to get insurance and said one reason was that I don''t have screwbacks and one of the backs slides very easily. I came home and tried switching the backs and realized the issue is one of the backs having a larger hole than the other (as opposed to one of the posts being different). So I thought I''d ask WF if they would send me another. Since they are platinum they may want the first one back but that''s not a huge issue. I was also considering purchasing jumbo backs anyway so that may solve the problem.

But I may have another problem. I''ve noticed that after sleeping in my new earrings, my holes are irritated and sometimes slightly bleed. I thought I''d try taking them out tonight and hope the holes don''t close. However, this afternoon when I took the earrings off to look at the post/back problem, one of my ears was bleeding a bit. I have been putting the backs on pretty tight to keep the diamonds secure and upright. I''m hoping the issue is not that I can''t wear the Martinis. I did ask WF what would happen if I had a problem wearing them and she said I could let her know and they''d try to help me.

I guess I''ll let her know about both of these issues before my ten-day return period is up and then try to see if I can wear the Martinis for a couple of weeks or so. Sorry for the long post!
Any suggestions? Anyone else had this type of issue with WF?

I don't have any advice about WF and the back return/exchange. But, when I wear a larger earring (and put the backs on tightly so I feel secure that they will not come off), I get irritated holes, too. I think your ears would feel better if you put the backs on at the indentation. I know this may cause some insecurity, and I would suggest getting a bigger clutch anyway to alleviate any tipping problems.

If you have any saline solution, you can run that through your holes and it'll clean them without irritating them more.

BTW- they are fantastic!!!
