Today''s a beautiful Autumn day with plenty of sun, I tried to take some photos of my BB tourmaline but it''s so hard to photograph something so small. My DH kindly offered to photograph my BB tourmaline and a small OEC for me (while I assisted by holdng various flower props).

Here''re the photos.

First one is on a lily:

Very pretty!!! love your pics!

Very cool. I love the daisy picture, beautiful setting for a beautiful stone!

TFS!

Thank you everyone, I had fun with the photo shoot and sharing some of my favourite shots on PS.

I am thinking of setting the ring in a 2 tone setting, clean lines. Will it be too much colour or should I stick with one gold colour?

OH Yummy! I love the flower pic with it sitting inside the flower! I wonder if I bought a flower like that would it have a gorgeous gemstones growing inside of it??

What a beautiful color! Love it contrasting with the pink gerbera. Too bad it cannot live there forever!

Two tone is a good idea IMO, especially a YG head and WG shank. Reason - you state that the stone is blue-green, but in the photos (unless they don''t show colors well) it''s mostly blue and setting it in YG will accentuate the green tones. If green is more visible than in the photos I''d probably agree on any choice of metal (but still think the tone of color might be a bit dark for an all-white option).

Oh, wow! Those flower shots are gorgeous!!!!

You''re stone is so pretty! Love all of the flower shots!

If someone developed a gem growing flower, I'll be the first in line to buy one!

The stone does have more green tones indoor, it''s very hard to capture the colour because this gem kept changing colours in different lighting. At first I thought it''s more green, now I see more blue. Thanks for putting my mind at ease about the two tone setting.

Nice blue green colour. I think any colour metal would be fine. Have you placed it next to a yellow and white metal to see your preference?

GORGEOUS!!!

I have, the yellow gold brings the green out more but it also looks gorgeous next to white metal... I don''t have any yellow gold rings so I thought I might try a two tone setting, but i will go with whatever colour that brings out its beauty best.

My two setting ideas:

1. 2 tone east west semi bezel setting, band width close to the widith of the bezel (around 5mm), clean but softened round lines for the shank, matte finish.

2. White gold east west semi bezel setting, again with a wide band but with a rounded engrave shank.

With a 2 tone bezel, the metal closest to the gemstone will be the one to influence the colour of the gemstone. I like blues so I'd play up the blue by setting it in a white or a white bezel. With a stone having a bold presence (5 mm width), I'd do the matte shank. I like engravings but am concerned it'll be too much for the stone.

What a great color!

I really like those setting ideas. I too would want to play up the blue and tone down the green. So I too would go with White metal.

Gorgeous stone - that color is YUM!
