Basic question from a new PS addict

Hi

I am on the start of a huge but enjoyable learning curve here and love seeing everyones rings. OK, my very basic question, when people mention points how does that match to a carat eg 10 points and 0.10 carat??
I have tried to search for the answer, but no success.

While I can tell you the answer from wikipedia that''s cheating....

I do know it''s another unit of weight (mass actually but who''s counting). I used to measure the tip of archery target arrows on a grain scale to ensure consitency. Had little metal pellets to attach to the tips if they weren''t.
