Back on the hunt...

I posted a couple weeks ago and thought I had found a gorgeous stone to put into my setting but alas that is not the case and I am back on the hunt for another stone.
However, I have two questions as opposed to looking for stone suggestions this time.
First, I have talked to several different companies over the phone and when I ask about some stones I''m told they are located in India. It didn''t occur to me to ask, but is there some problem with diamonds that carry a GIA or AGS cert located in Inida?

Second, I recall reading someplace that some diamonds will "face up" larger than others. I assume this can be determined by looking at the length and width? Or am I missing something?

Hi Anna,

I would assume genuine GIA and AGS diamonds will be as stated wherever they are sold....

As to facing up or spread, what you want to look for is a diamond which has a good spread for the weight. For example a 1 carat round diamond should measure about 6.5mm in diameter so you want to go by the diameter measurements to judge how a diamond measures up in this way.
