hello! this is my first post on PS.

i just purchased this asscher and am wondering if i''ve made the right decision.
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=1036371

can someone please comment on the table/depth of this diamond? thanks!

proportions dont mean much to me - but the pic on the site looks pretty good.
I need aSET images to really tell.
You can have the stone shipped direct to an appraiser
and Strom might drop by - he knows the JA photo set up pretty well

Thanks Gary! I wish I found this forum earlier.

I actually have another 1.07ct stone set in basket by bluenile but am very unhappy with the setting. I have decided to return only the setting when I found this site, discovered James Allen, and found this 1.23ct stone from James Allen (it''s cheaper with the PS discount). But of course, now I''m wondering if I did the right thing.

If you were me, would you keep the stone from bluenile or James Allen? Which one is better and why? Thanks much!

It looks pretty good to me.
An IS would help confirm that which they offer, but since you bought it allready check it out when you get it.
If it speaks to you its good to go if not they have a good return policy.

That one is an emerald cut not an asscher.
The only picture available is the one on the gcal report which isn''t that great but from what I can see the JA stone is better.

Thanks Storm! I will post look at the James Allen one carefully when I get it. Here''s a picture of the one from Bluenile.

Also, Storm do you think the one from James Allen is "off-center"? I am wondering if it would be apparent in person.

nice drop style asscher tilted, maybe, have someone check and make sure the culet is centered.
Both pics looking tilted has me paranoid. The symmetry grade would be worse than it is if it was really like that but still.
Do you have the crown height?

Thanks Storm. Could you please tell me what "drop style" is?

GAH I hope the cutlet is centered!! I just emailed Jim at JA about the crown height and the cutlet. Will report back when I hear!

This shows some possible different styles of asschers and what I call them.
They are not trade terms but rather pricescope terms implemented by me to help ease communication.
A few vendors have adopted them because of the use here.

I talked to my expert on gia grading and he said it might be possible to be that far off and still get G.
It looks like it is just tilted in the pics to me.
I would ask that they have someone evaluate it in person and report back if it looks lopsided in person.

Hey Storm! Jim at JA assured me that the cutlet is centered and it wouldn't sit flush in the tray when he took the image. He said that the crown height is over 13%. Is that good for an asscher?

Thanks for explaining what drop style is! :)

sounds good :}
If Jim has seen it in person and says its ok then that is good enough for me.
over 13% is fine.

Thank you so much Storm! :)

I think it looks great! nice small table and good color! nice patterns... congrats!
