I previously had a thread about my search here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/asscher-opinions-should-i-buy.59949/ but was creating some confusion between myself and another person looking for help causing the thread to be ignored.

So here is a new thread that hopefully isn''t at all confusing.

There are two diamonds. I like them both(one more than the other but want a unbiased opinions). I will be happy with either. They are from two different jewelers and both have been equally professional and helpful. I will give my commitment to one of these diamonds by EOD Friday.

Diamond #1
1.23ct H VS2
Depth: 70.2%
Table: 71.7%
Crown: 14.3%
5.68x5.91x3.99
Ratio: 1.04
Which was rejected by another user for a very beautiful 1.29ct diamond

Diamond #2
1.24ct H VS2
Depth: 68.0%
Table: 62.3%
Crown: 17.2%
5.94x5.95x4.04
Ratio: 1.00

I happen to prefer #2, seems at though it just draws the eye in more... both are quite beautiful but #2 also has a less busy appearance at first glance. HTH

I like #2

I love the look of the first one! I think I like it because of the smaller steps. (Hope that''s the right terminology!)

I like 2 as well, plus its squarer and speadier and got nicer numbers.

They''re both lovely, but my vote goes to #2 as well.

#2 by a huge margin.

first: puke city
second: very good

If you look at the background behind each stone you will see the auto exposure on the camera had to use a much higher shutter speed on #2 - this is because # 2 is over exposing because it has probably 2 x as much light return.
Thankfully my ideal-scope shows this too.

no brainer choice

Number 2 looks brighter, but I really don''t know a lot about asschers.

I''m just reading this thread and beginning to serious search for my ering. I''ve always loved Asschers but dont know anyone who carries really good quality in San Diego so I''ll probably go to NYC/47th street since I''m from NY anyway. Does anyone have a source for excellent quality Asschers in NYC or elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

wow, 2.

I may be mistaken, but I was deciding between a 1.23 and a 1.29 and chose the 1.29 earlier this week, but the 1.23 you posted is not one that I was considering. I don''t know if you posted the info wrong on this thread, but the numbers on that 1.23 are bad

. Just based on those I wouldn''t consider it. So, out of the 2 I''d go for #2.

My thread was here, just fyi: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/asscher-help-calling-strmrdr-and-others.59677/

This place is in Long Island. They can get you a great Asscher, many on here have bought from them.

You are of course correct. When I looked again I realized it was a totally different diamond.

Thanks everyone for the advice I''m going for #2(which I loved as soon as I saw it).

Well, obviously I don''t know much about asschers. I would have selected #1. It has more contrast and is more interesting to me, and I like the proportions of the contrast in it.

Guess I''ll stick to rounds!

They are both pretty, but I rather like the "busy" look of #1.

Thanks for that link!

Thanks to everyone for the help. I went with Diamond 2 and proposed on Saturday. I''ve attached some pictures of the ring.

CONGRATS on your engagement & on the FABOO ring! LOVE the finished product! The delicate antique-look really sets off the asscher and the taper towards the stone makes the Asscher really POP & look even BIGGER! NICE WORK!!! You have great taste!

Wow - the stone is amazing and it looks absolutely regal in that setting. Very nice job!!

Well done!
