It is personal preference; I tend to love the more octagonal ones myself, especially with a small-ish table.

ETA: But you should go with what YOUR eyes find appealing. I think - for me - the more square ones are a bit ‘backwards’, in that the squares are on the inside and the sparkle is on the outside edge, and to me the squares kind of appear like a frame which in my head thinks it should be on the outside and the sparkles on the inside. Hope that makes sense.

Perfect sense! Something about the square seems more asscher to me. I feel most would say the other, but I’ll be the one looking at it all the time. I just can’t wait to get there in person and see them all!

For the square, I like the sparkle on the outer edge with the middle being an endless hall of mirrors.

I believe the larger the clips (so a more pronounced octagon), the wider and more pronounced the windmills will be. See how in these two, the top one has skinny windmills, the bottom one, fatter ones.

Quite honestly, I wish I could combine them. Square shape with wider windmills. However, since the clipped corners make the size of the windmills. That would be a tough one :wink2:

The setting you choose can give it a more squarish look by placing prongs at the clips.

True. It will be a tension inspired setting. (Basically what I had except with an asscher instead of a round). Right now I’m leaning towards the square. I’ve looked at soo many asschers this week (you all have too!) and this stone threw a curve ball because it’s definitely more octagon than square.

I'm trying to envision the setting. Do you have a picture?

We are in the home stretch! Thank you everyone who came along on the journey.

Although I won’t be there until Tuesday, I have easily narrowed down to 3 amazing stones. Now it’s all about personal preference.

The first two images are of a 2.33 f vs1 that really surprised us all. I love the square shape with medium windmills. Also, it’s very active in the middle of the stone. The black sections in the first photo light up (shown in the second photo)

The last photo has the 2.53 evs1
And the more octagon 2.43 f vs2

My gut is tell me the first one even though it’s the smallest. I guess we shall see in person. I might let hubby choose since I love them all.

What have they said about ASET images? There was mention that the jeweler had that equipment and was going to get you (us) some images.

These three have the strong ones. I won’t get the best images until I get in there. (A lot was over FaceTime)

Even over a video, it was easy to detect the stones that “popped” over the stones that were dead in the middle.

"I hope we get to see them!", he said, selfishly. lol

So far, based on these images, I think I'd lean toward the first or third over the second.

Interesting you say that. Soo many factors go into this. I am giving up my 2 carat round for a smaller more expensive diamond (Just typing that sounds weird) but I’m sold on an asscher.

I agree the first and third. Two completely different looks.

Isn't that a hybrid of step cut crown, brilliant cut pavilion?!

(And haven't we seen it posted on here before? It looks familiar... lol)

@Venzen007 This is a question for the author of the Lucida cut.

I bet @Karl_K has experimented with this. How would an Octavia with a Lucida faceted pavilion perform?
