Not that I like working more hours than usual but it keeps my mind from pondering the numerous what-ifs. I know it's not a good thing either but working until I am exhausted helps me be able to sleep during these trying times.

I think I'll take a walk this afternoon since the weather is supposed to get a lot colder tomorrow.

I see people posting that it is in stock somewhere, but then it sells out within a couple of hours. Crazy! I just hope everyone has a spare room stuffed full and quits buying by the time I need to find more...

This is the sort of thing I worry about. Issues with reduced production of different things as workers are out sick. (Mind, I am not saying they should work when sick!) How much of a problem that is would depend on what you are talking about. Less beef is a pain, but chicken or fish or vegetarian is okay as needed. (Assuming they aren't all short too.) TP is much harder to substitute for.

I just read that the data is coming in from China, and over 80% of the cases there were mild. And 13% of people who tested postitive never showed signs of the virus.

I teach high school biology and chemistry in CT. All schools in CT were closed a week ago. We were told that it would most likely last for two weeks and that we would not be doing any distance learning because the governor felt it would be unfair to SPED students and could be inequitable across school districts. Yesterday we were informed that in my distract we're going to a distance learning model, which tells me that no one is returning to the building for the remainder of the school year and that all schools in CT may be doing the same. I have no direct knowledge, but that's my best guess.

Blood Type A here :) A has often signals problems.

I will go look. Does anyone else know whether there has been valid research on blood type and resistance to COVID-19? I never even heard of one blood type or another being more resistant to a strain of "common" 'flu. Do any of you know about this?

This is a serious question. I would like to know what y’all think. Ok, if 56% of my state Is going to get coronavirus, then they will be immune after they get through it. They will be out, eating at chili’s and I will still be locked in my house, terrified. Do you see society having understanding towards the people who still want to stay in or do you see them sort of forcing us outside and getting us sick?

In think scientists are still debating the immunity thing...

We are getting instructions on how to reuse PPE. Oof. Our supply chain wasn’t ready for this but hopefully it’s a short term shortage gap.

Honestly at this point I don’t know if I’m more worried about getting it and getting sick, or getting it and NOT getting sick and unknowingly getting other people sick. I check my temp everyday before I go to work just in case I have a fever and didn’t clock it (I’m not someone who can typically “tell”). It’s like “yay some people are mild or asymptomatic!” But also “boo. Some people are mild and asymptomatic and unknowingly spreading it”.

I don't know if this is an option, but volunteers have been picking up supplies from different hospitals and sewing masks for them. The staff at one hospital did it themselves. Might be an option?

I'm not sure what the hoarding has been like around the rest of the world but where I live there has been no TP for weeks now, limited paper towel it disappears as soon as they put it out. No hand sanitisers, no tissues, no pasta, no rice, this week no red meat. Less vegetables and produce....

When my daughter arrived at work this afternoon she said there were patients waiting in ER. I guess people are staying home.

I know you are not in the USA but this is true all over I believe.

In our neighborhood there seems to be sufficient TP and paper towels etc. The grocery markets also seem to have enough food though intermittently they may be out of certain things. They get restocked so far. With the exception of Purell and other supplies. But food supply seems to (knock wood) keep coming.

I work for a cosmetics company and I found out today we will start making hand sanitizers from our manufacturing plants. I believe the plan is to distribute to employees and hopefully to other services that needs them. Made me feel a little better about the drama over hair oil today. LOL!

Same here near Seattle. Some stores get stocked then sell out. I have been staying home so haven't seen first-hand, but meats and produce seem to be sort of okay some days and wiped out others. Some people have posted the store was well stocked but then others get there a.few hours later and much is gone.

What is aggravating is that getting food delivered seems almost impossible now. So if one does get ill and cannot go out that might become a big problem. If anyone gets sick everyone in the household needs to self quarantine and cannot go out and get food.

Exactly!!

DH and I have been sick for 4 weeks. Doing it exactly correctly, I would not have left the house at all since 2/21. I have done almost that, but have had two shopping trips on days I had been feeling well for several days. Staying home for more weeks is going to be possible, but would be nice to have some fresh stuff delivered!

I get deliveries every week through Imperfect Produce. The selection has gotten less good and more items are being dropped from my orders due to supply issues. I just signed up for Smith Brothers Farm delivery too. Hopefully, between the two of them, we can have a good assortment of fresh stuff.

I wish we lived closer to you. I could've gone grocery shopping for you.
Fresh Direct here is now impossible to find a delivery time slot and I think same holds true for Instacart but I haven't checked them for a few days so I might be wrong about Instacart. I did just check Freshdirect and no available time slots.

Today, our governor order that state-wide quite a few business including bars, casinos, restaurants (take out and delivery allowed), etc. be closed.

I did another Walmart pickup. I was able to get some fresh produce. I bought a gallon of milk and will freeze some of it for baking (my powdered milk supply is almost gone). No contact with the employee and easy.

I'm happy that I was approved to telework next week.

@arkieb1 so interesting that where you are there's no red meat. Here there's nothing but. Trying to find chicken is impossible, and oddly enough pork is a close second.

We’re getting instructions on reusing PPEs and cross credentialing at other local hospitals so we can flex staff if things get bad. The lack of PPE right now is probably the biggest issue for us, so far the surge hasn’t hit, but we’re all preparing for the worst in the next 2 weeks. I’m reading stories from Italy and Spain about pulling specialists like dermatologists into icu or pulmonary care, or people coming out of retirement to help as medical staff get infected and have to stay home.

Nothing I can do about any of that though. So I’ll keep washing my hands and doing my PPE and bone up on reading about ICU care just in case it comes to that.
