That you are willing to share? I mean we are all pretty much anonymous, so have a go at it.

My grandfather was second cousin to field General Erwin Rommel, my grandmother was related to Kitty Carslile.

The desert fox!.I love WWII history.

Nope, I'm not related to anyone famous!

There was a famous Victorian engineer/author by the name of Samuel Smiles. My great-grandmother's maiden name was Smiles, and she was also from the same area as him. Her son, my grandfather, became a draughtsman, which is related to engineering. Smiles isn't a very common name so I've wondered about a possible distant connection, although if that was true I think we'd probably know.

My mother knows an old lady who's part of the Asprey family, does that count?? The interesting thing is that this lady said when she was growing up, there was jewellery everywhere at home, just all over the place, and she said they never took any notice of it!

HI:

Why yes, I am married to George Clooney!

cheers--Sharon

Well I already mentioned it but Benjamin Franklin is my first cousin 10x removed. And Lucretia Mott is in there too but I think it's more like a 3rd cousin and I'm not sure how many generations removed.

Well, I can't say he was famous, but people knew him out of fear!
I won't mention his name, but my husband's (now deceased) uncle was an assassin for the Nazis.

Quite horrible. He even told my husband's family that he would have no problem targeting them if they revealed who he was. :nono:

I used to have a patient that was one of the Philadelphia Biddles as in Bailey , Banks and Biddle.

Well that's a scared one!

He was the one that assassinated a famous scientist from my husband's country.

My husband ,husband's family and I are quite disturbed by having this type of link to such a person.

Well yeah, I can imagine. But his actions have nothing to do with you two ( know what I mean? )

My aunt's brother in law was an actor in the original Dukes of Hazzard TV show.

I'm a direct descendent of Nathaniel Rochester, who founded Rochester, NY.

My second cousin George was in a Van Damme movie, Death Warrant. He was in a commercial too. He just looked like a big hairy biker guy. He passed away though.

I'm related to Paddington Bear. Does that count? I can't say that I carry marmalade sandwiches under my hat, though.

Pillsbury dough boy, sad to say.......unfortunately, the family resemblance is undeniable....... :o

I'm a direct descendant of one of the best known and perhaps most influential British missionaries in Southern Africa and as a result, also related to David Livingstone. Half the city I was born in is named after my family and we even have a Scottish town named after us. Well, the last part is an exaggeration - apparently we're named after the town. Tiny detail, right?

Weirdly, I am also related to a nineties US Hanson-style rock group (I really can't bring myself to call it a band) and share a birthday with the triplets who form the group. Not just the day but the day and year!

My brother's border collie dog is the son of the dog who was the face on all the Lucky Dog pet food products. :P

I'm related to my dogs. And to Jessie James. The icky Duchess of Windsor was a distant cousin of my icky grandfather, which I hate to admit. The 1st time I went to England, my mother told me not to tell anyone what my middle name is.

Inner Kitten -- maybe we're related. Lucretia Mott was a Coffin (her maiden name) from Nantucket -- I'm related to her through both her mother and her father.

And I'm related to DH, who says he SHOULD be famous!

--- Laurie

I am pretty closely related to Lucille Udovick, a 1950s dramatic soprano who sang with the likes of Richard Tucker and Franco Corelli, and who was the singer asked to take on the role of "Norma" after the famous 1958 Rome "walkout" by Maria Callas.

I'm a descendant of King Gustav I Vasa of Sweden (15-16th century ruler). As far as I know I'm not related to no one else even remotely famous.

Then I'm sure we are distant cousins because I am also related to the Folgers and the Coffins. They really intermarried when they were on Nantucket so if you're related to two you're probably related to more of them as well. One day we should compare trees.

Ben Franklins Mother was Abiah Folger and his grandfather was Peter Folger. Peter was the first Folger on Nantucket.

I am related to Norman M. Thomas. He was a Socialist who ran for the presidency during the 30s and 4os. I did a paper on him once in school and my respect and admiration for him and his principles went up enormously. My intimate family thought he was an embarrassment so I was never told about the connection

I"m related to a famous writer who lives out in LA. I would rather not give his name as my maiden name is very specific. I'm also related to a semi famous politican who is now retired. And a cousin by marriage is a news anchor on the news. If you are on the east coast you probably have heard of her. Though she just divorced out of our family about 3 or 4 years ago.

I'm actually the Queen of England. I really should do a nice SMTB thread one of these days.

My trippple great grandfather was W.D.Lawrence, who was a ship builder and politician in Nova Scotia. He supposedly built the largest wooden sailing vessel ever made in canada, the William D. Lawrence. I believe that although large, 263 feet long, it could not contain his ego. The ship was once on a canada post stamp and a 2002 twenty dollar silver coin. His home is now a museum.

Nope, no claim to fame here!

Mary Queen of Scots and William the Conqueror!
