Hi everyone,
I''m considering turning my pendant stone into earrings and maybe getting an upgradeable pendant stone later on. I really wanted to match the strong blue, but in order to get a little closer in mm measurements I would have to spend at least $200-300 more if this combination doesn''t work to get a slightly larger well-matched stone for the second stone. I already have the first one. Are they close enough?

Thanks in advance!

Stone 1:
.43 H SI1
Strong blue flour
depth: 61.3
table: 56
crown/pavillion: 34/41
girdle: thin-med faceted
polish/symmetry: ex/ex
4.87mm X 4.89mm

Stone 2:
.42 H SI1
Strong blue flour
depth: 61.9
table: 55
crown/pavillion: 34.5/40.6
girdle: med-slightly thick faceted
polish/symmetry: ex/ex
4.82mm X 4.84mm

I would say so....

I have studs and I NEVER take them off to compare them. LOL. I think they''ll be a good match.

but.

um.

Already grown bored of your pendant?! Pour quoi mon ami?

Why are we so fickle? hahahaa. Shrinkage? or just an itch for something new?

do tell!

I''m definitely not bored with my pendant, I love it! I''m just thinking about how nice it would be to have earrings without paying a ton of money. Then I could buy a small pendant that is similar, but upgradeable and grow bigger over time. I might not even make the change to earrings, but I''m considering it! I don''t really have a single pair of nice earrings and all of my silver earrings are irritating my ears big time!

oh sistah - in that case - DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

You''ll prob never take them off. A good pair of earrings are priceless!!

I''m totally enabling this one.

To me they seem like a close enough match. I agree that you probably won''t take them off to compare them often that any difference will be truly noticeable.

Sweetie, they''re PERFECT!!! You found Stone #1''s long lost brother! That is gonna be one KILLER pair of studs. LOVE LOVE LOVE the flouro, too!

I have to chuckle at how we agonize and torture ourselves searching for two peeeeeeeerfectly matching stones for studs. The other day I accidentally wore my .45 stud in one ear and my .75 in the other! NEVER NOTICED ALL DAY (neither did anyone else!) -- only realized it when I took them off that night to clean them!
At first I was like this:

My advice? Do it!!!

Yeah, it''s probably not noticeable at all when worn. It''s not like they are sidestones in a ring or something...I guess I''m just so used to seeing perfectly matched stones around here all the time!

That''s hillarious!! If you didn''t notice that big of a difference than .01 of a carat is probably fine then! I do stuff like that all the time by the way. I other day I realized I had one black sock...and one argyle sock on!! How the heck did I not notice that? I tried to stick my clothes in the garbage a couple of weeks ago instead of in my laundry basket...oops! At least I noticed how silly I was acting as soon as I opened the garbage door.

I seriously doubt that you will find a closer match to your first stone, at least not without looking and waiting for MONTHS, or longer. Really, I would have no second thoughts... I think the diamonds will make wonderful studs!

And I LOL''ed at your silliness.

So you have senior moments, too, huh?!!

Thanks for the reassurance!! My thoughts exactly about finding a better match. I figure I might as well buy a stone now instead of waiting months for a better one. During my recent searches I haven''t found anything better that wasn''t quite a bit more $$ for that tiny .01 carat. I probably won''t turn them into earrings for a while. I might wait until I find another pendant stone and then set them all so I don''t have to be without my pendant. I also haven''t decided how I want to set them...but I think I''m still going to do the bezel thing. It just gives such a good size boost!

KC, I think they look incredibly well matched. That is going to be a rocking pair.

BTW, I LOL''d both you and LynnB. I also resemble you both, but that''s a whole nother thread!!!

We should start a thread about scatterbraindedness one of these days LOL...there might be quite a few funny stories from psers!

That looks like a great match! I doubt that tiny size difference would be visible. I''ll be interested in seeing so we can make more accurate recommendations to other people.

Thanks for your input DS! I will definitely post many many pictures when I do eventually have the completed earrings, but it might be awhile.

I think they would be great in earrings.

Kcoursolle -- That looks like a FAB pair of earrings. Great match!
You''re killing me here ... What a fantastic jewelery collection!
I can''t wait to see these earrings when you are finished with them. Do you know how you are going to set them?

I bet they''d be great...I think my diamonds for my earrings had a similar diameter difference and I can''t tell at all. Plus my earrings are bezeled (WF handmade bezel-I love them!), which I''m sure makes it even harder to tell any difference.

I actually want a pendant myself now that I have the earrings. The two just go hand in hand, ya know? And then I''ll need a diamond wedding band...and a RHR...and maybe that e-ring upgrade...ahhh-the list goes on!

OH MY GOD! Lynn, you DO know what this means, don''t you?????

That''s RIGHT! NO need to buy bigger, cause it''s gonna look the same anyway!

ROTFLMAO!

You just talked yourself OUT of being a size mama! I love it!

KC, those stones look like they''ll be a fantastic match. Honestly, I''d be stunned if you saw even the teeniest difference. They''re THAT close!

Thank you Sparkalicious! You are so sweet. I am probably going to set them in thin bezels, but I''m not sure exactly what they are going to look like yet. I might wait a while until I find another pendant stone and think about all of them as a set.

I looked back on your thread and they are beautiful!!! I definitely didn't notice a difference, very pretty! Pendant and earrings definitely go together, it will be great to have all three. I can't wait to see what you end up getting...with all of your projects...ahhhh pricescope, waay too much inspiration around here.

ummm .. another pendant stone and them have them all set ... That''s a great idea. Whatever you decide, I have no doubt it will be gorgeous. In the meantime, I will just have to be satisfied with waiting to see it all.
