Are there any phrases you think are unprofessional?

More and more I hear people saying "okie dokie" - it sounds so unprofessional to me...

I can't think of any other ones...well, actually, "hey" too...

Are there any phrases you find unprofessional, even though others use them all the time?

Uh-oh. I sent an email earlier this week, and "okey-dokey" was it's entire contents.

If it's someone that I've worked with for a while, I'll lapse into colloquialisms. It's just easier. ;))

But I do periodically receive verbiage for publication, and some of the language in there makes me cringe. The phrase that really rankles me is ". . . and what's more ....". Seriously? In a publication? But I always tell them it's great, because no one is paying me to write.

Gosh, I haven't heard okie-dokey since I was a kid, and even then it was old people (not "folks" ) who said it. I must be hanging in the wrong places.

Knuckle bumps in a law office? That's hilarious -- icky! hilarious. The guy sounds like he's trying too hard. He'll learn.

iLander, seems like I'm pretty much the only that hates it so don't worry 8)

liaer - Like JewelFreak said, that guy sounds like he's trying too hard...but OMG I hope he's not talking to clients like that! (his bosses either, but who knows, if he's a "superstar" the rules for him may have been relaxed.)

Jewel - I hear it ALL THE TIME. Just this week, 3-4 times for sure.
