So much great feedback! Well I know she does not like the halo''d rings. I''m looking at something perhaps like this:

http://www.adiamor.com/R-1085-R2797-1.htm

And there is a 0.67 G SI2, Excellent cut that I could put in there and it''d be right around my price mark; ~$2000. In everyday scenarios, how obvious are inclusions in SI2 diamonds? Like if someone where looking at her hand from a dinner table would they be able to spot them easily? Thanks for all the help everybody.

It depends, really. Some SI2s are more eye-clean than others. At that size, the chances that someone spots an inclusion across the table are very slim, but it just depends- what size is/are the inclusion(s)? Who graded the diamond?

Do you have a link to the diamond? Photos?

Ditto, if you find the *right* SI2 you can be golden, especially in that size. Ichave an SI2 and am the only one who could possibly see the inclusion. Not even a close inspection by another person would reveal it. But she will probably be able to see it up close in most SI2s.

You need to work with a trusted vendor to buy lower clarity grades.

Here are some to consider from trusted vendors. Don''t go by the clarity plots, you will need to call to find out more:

Now another question, that I just realized I don''t know the answer to. If I bought the setting from adiamor, and the diamond from James Allen for example, who would I have set the diamond into the setting?

Hi Yoda-If adiamor will sell just the setting, I would have the stone vendor do the setting, but that''s just me.

FYI-many other vendors have settings like the one you picked at similar or lower prices so you could easily find that setting through the vendor where you purchase your stone.

I prefer other vendors for their return and upgrade policies, and for the amount fo info they can give you on a diamond. So for me, I would take a second look at James Allen, GOG, BGD, for the diamond, but that''s just me.

Inorder to tell you what we think about the adiamor diamond we''d need crown and pavilion angles, and if possible the asset and ideal scope...I don''t think adiamor provides the last two, but they might...I''ve never purchased a diamond from them...

Since the stone is more expensive and more difficult to have be amazing, I would find the vendor that can sell me the best stone in my budget, put the stone on hold, and then see what my options are for the setting.

Hmm. Alrighty, well I found this setting on James Allen
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/pave-set-ring-White-Gold-4-Prong-2.6mm.html

And I could use this diamond with it:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1275727.asp

I do feel more comfortable using a site that offers an upgrade policy incase it is ever wanted by her. The setting has 2.6mm width, so I suppose that's thick enough for a size 8-8.5 finger?

---My bad, I can't use that diamond, it only uses 0.70+

I think that would be lovely! I love the direction you are going and think it will be a gorgeous ring that will look awesome on her finger!

I would call JA though and ask them if the diamond is eyeclean (and specify what your eyeclean standards are) b/c that inclusion could be pretty visible. If not, we''ll find you one that will work better for you:-)

Also, if you haven''t called ID I would. They offer an upgrae policy and have these settings which might free up more $ for your stone budget. I wouldn''t bother with the diamond search function on their website it''s slow and doesn''t really have their inventory. I would just call and say you are looking for a gorgeous diamond for your engagement ring, you are a pricescope member, your budget is X amount of $ and your parameters, specifiy that you want an ideal cut diamond. Yekutiel might be able to find you something amazing, since your stone budget will be almost $1700 with the second setting here...)
