I have been looking for an appraiser in the UK to appraise my James Allen AGS Ideal 0.7ct 900pt Solitaire diamond engagement ring. There don''t seem to be that many appraisers in the UK, but I came across this webiste for the Guild of Valuers & Jewellers http://www.gvj.org.uk/. However, having also come across the following statement on their website, I am reticent in using this organisation:

"Clarity
This is possibly the most important of the four C’s as it can mean the difference between a brilliant diamond and a dull lifeless stone.

Clarity refers to the diamond''s ability to allow the passage of light through the stone without obstruction or absorption. Any inclusions inside the stone (cracks or natural features) or defects on the surface will stop light from passing through the stone and affect the diamond’s clarity. Not all inclusions are visible to the naked eye, however."

Whast do you PS''ers think of these statements? Should I stay clear of this company having been educated by PS that cut is the most important of the four C''s?

i think cut and carat weight are the biggest determiners of price.
