... that is, if I'm not mistaken.
I don't recall reading one peep of support.

How can that be when clearly zillions of Americans support him?

Birds of a feather flock together?

I'm sure there are Trump supporters here but afraid to admit it... :wink2: nothing wrong with supporting Trump if you believe in his policies, b/c we do live in a democracy society.

I wonder whether an anonymous poll would reveal any supporters.

I think for a lot of people, it would come down to him or who? What is the other option?

Support as in out right like him and think he is the best choice?
Support as in picking the lesser of bad options?

Two very different things.

No, apparently, not a single PS member is willing to admit they support Trump...
I'm sure that there are some supporters here just like there are everywhere, but with all of the Trump-bashing (not saying it's not deserved), who would even admit it? Saying you support Trump here would get about the same reaction as saying that you spent thousands on an E-ring at Kay jewelers
;)

I know very few people who support Trump. In my liberal and very smart NYC neighborhood I know NO one personally who supports him.
However in the neighborhood where we have our beach house I know one person who is voting for him (or perhaps couple or even entire family not sure) because she posts vocally on FB how much she supports him. It makes me want to barf.

I keep thinking people who support him are people who don't delve deeply into the issues or the candidates and are just seeing things superficially. Even though that may be giving them too much the benefit of the doubt honestly because even superficially Trump stinks. :knockout:

^I know a few Trump supporters and by "supporters" that doesn't necessarily mean that they are 100% supporting him. Some seem to truly support him, while others support him only in the sense that they feel a vote for him is the lesser of two evils.

There are plenty of Trump apologists here.

This person I am speaking of is a full on supporter according to her FB page. We are not friends at all IRL and she is a neighbor I rarely see but she "friended" me on FB so unfortunately I see what she is posting re Trump and OMG. She goes on and on and on. It is like a bad traffic accident. I look away but the images stay with me. ;(

Although there are probably Trump supporters from every walk of life, his biggest support seems to be blue collar white men. Doubt many are spending hard earned money on diamonds.
I may have to vote for him or write in a name. Or I may have to vote for Hillery. Either way, I'm not happy.

Well this particular neighbor of mine has some pretty big (and real) diamond bling. Her ER is huge and she loves jewelry as much as any PSer. Thankfully she is not on PS but she is a bling enthusiast and yes a Trump supporter.

But she's not a blue collar white guy.

I know many people in real life that support him and post daily about it on FB. It is too annoying, but they are entitled to their opinion, right?

I do agree that it will come down to the lesser of two evils on voting day. Sad that this is what we are left with.

Fine, I'll play.

I'm not going to say that I like him or that I agree with him on everything (because I don't think it's possible to agree with someone on everything). I will say that I agree with a lot of his policies. There are other people I'd rather see get the GOP nomination, but I will absolutely vote for him if he gets it, because my views are much more closely aligned with his than Sanders or Clinton.

I'd give you a lot of credit for posting that statement on PS... :appl:

Well, the thing is, I don't really care what a bunch of internet strangers think about my political views. So there's that.

Probably not, but if Sander becomes Prez he will confiscate all your diamonds and give it to DF... :appl: Go Bernie!

If Trump is the GOP candidate he will get my vote.

Can I ask what policies of his you support?

You're going to need something bigger than a spoon to stir that pot. Maybe rent some commercial food prep equipment, would be a good idea.

Sure. Immigration, for one, particularly ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants. I also agree with his policies regarding tax reform and healthcare reform.

Yup, IMO ...at least one of the parent must be a U.S. citizen in order for the baby to become a citizen at birth. it will stop the pregnant moms from sneaking across the border to give birth.

Pots, they need stirrin!

Pot stirrers ended slavery and got women the vote.

I appreciate your response. I've never had a discussion with someone who agrees with his views. My question is - if many of his policies are put into effect, for example, the immigration issue you mentioned (birthright children of illegal immigrants), do you think the gains made in the country will be enough to offset any potential damage he may do to our worldwide reputation? He is an extremely polarizing figure, not well-liked globally, and many are concerned he would start WWIII over a slight to his ego. Will ending birthright citizenship dramatically increase quality of life here in your opinion?

The only thing I've heard him concretely that he supports in regards to healthcare are HSA accounts. He used to support a single payer system (like Bernie). If he repeals ACA, do you think he has enough support in Congress to effectively replace it with something that will keep millions of citizens with preexisting conditions covered? For all the failings, ACA has dramatically increased the quality of life in millions of Americans who were unable to find prior coverage IMO. Or do you think healthcare should remain privatized?

ETA: I know he can't single-handedly repeal ACA - I mean successfully push for the repeal. Etc.

I'm battling an ear infection so sorry in advance if this isn't the clearest response.

1) I don't really care about our reputation in the world, as much as I care about fixing things here. I think cutting down on the amount spent on illegals will make a huge impact. I am in no way against immigration, I just don't think it's fair to those going through the proper channels that we reward those who come in illegally. I also don't think it will be the end of the world if any of the candidates get elected, because the executive branch can only do so much. We have checks and balances for a reason.

2) ACA- he also wants to make premiums tax deductible for people buying private plans. He wants to open up the marketplace across state borders, so that as long as plan x meets the requirement of another state, it can be offered there. He also doesn't think anyone should be forced to have insurance if they don't want it.
