Anyone watching American Idol tonight?

GRRR. PS monster ate my post.

Saying that I loved Jason Castro''s rendition of Jeff Buckley''s version of Hallelujah last year. I still remember it.

Adam''s voice actually reminds me a bit of Buckley when he goes really high, and I would love to hear what he would do with Hallelujah! I am sure we won''t see it since it was just last year, but could be really cool.

Also, interesting that there are only 2 girls left.

Even though Allison is good, she reminds me too much of Kelly Clarkson.

ooo, ooo, I''m still watching. I think Alison is one of the one''s the judges would save if she would get the boot prematurely. I like her. I''m still a Danny fan but agree he needs to pick better songs. He sings them well, I just find them a little boring. Adam is growing on me and although I don''t always get him, he brings it every week and I do look forward to seeing what he''ll be performing. I do like Kris too. Everyone else is kinda meh for me...

Adam and Matt are both very talented but somehow don't connect with the voting audience as well as Danny or Scott. I think the dark horse this year could be Chris. He's decent enough but I just don't see 'star'...Sorry.

He is my favorite

I watched all the performances in rapid succession one day because I was home doing our taxes and they were all backed up on our DVR. He was the only person that I've consistently loved each 'week' (for me, each hour haha). This was a change, too, as in the early rounds Danny Gokey was my far-and-away favorite. Anoop is my other favorite, for random nerdy personal reasons

My husband thinks the final two will be Adam and Allison, and that Adam will win. I'm inclined to agree. If I were the only one voting for the rest of the season, this would be the order (from next kicked off to winner):

7. Lil
6. Matt
5. Danny
4. Allison
3. Adam
2. Anoop
1. Kris

All good points. I agree that Danny was an early standout but has lacked lustre for me lately. Anoop is the under-dawg (as Randy would say) so I like him for being a normal guy. No image. No pretense. But I do stand by my assessment that he should become a Dr. hahahahaha.

Kris could go far too. Sometimes I love him. Sometimes, not so much.

I love Anoop for his college a cappella history

ETA:My friends from college and I have always discussed our frustration over who ends up on AI because we know so many completely phenomenal singers (many of whom have auditioned for the show, a couple have gone "to Hollywood") who deserve to be on, too. He's like our little golden child!! haha

Well ... I bet good $$ on Jason Castro winning last year & am still living it down around here. (I think he quit trying, which I couldn''t have predicted

-- but did feel a bit vindicated w/the Atlantic Records contract announced today. He''s one of the few to get signed to a major label w/o 19''s help)

I think Alison could potentially peak at just the right point. Danny''s popularity has been sinking. Adam''s a real wildcard. He''s too out there for a lot of people. I will really be shocked if he pulls it out -- even though a lot of media is making it seem like its predestined. Alison''s a tough one to back because she really doesn''t have Kelly Clarkson charm. Kris is the charmer this year. But in these grim times it''d be nice to see a little GRIT at the top.

Hmmmm....I LOVE Matt, although he doesn't seem to be a fav in this thread. I just really really like him and i look forward to seeing what he's got going on each week - i really loved "part time lover" last week...

I also love Anoop, and i ditto Musey here - i was an a cappella singer in college too, and I am totally rooting for him! And i think every other week or so, he's really great.

I love Allison's voice and style but not her personality so much - it's not very endearing. I still love Danny but he is getting a bit boring. Right now my favorite is Matt. Just love his voice!

GOING TO COMMENT ON TONIGHT'S SHOW SO DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT OPINIONS:


Ok, so far kinda bored. I thought this week would be kinda out there and cool, and so far we've had 2 Bryan Adams songs. Seriously?

Allison- sang well but bored. No connection to what she was singing. There is a yearning to that song that she missed.

Anoop- Did much better with that silly song than I would have thought. Though I agreed with Quentin and wanted some rawness. Now how would Adam have done that song???

Adam- Liked some of the fast head-banging parts but kinda meh and theatrical for me. Doesn't the band seem to love him though? He lets them do crazy stuff. Anyone else want to hear him sing a Guns N Roses song?

Matt- Oh really wanted to like this. Kinda did in beginning, but nothing special.

ETA: Do we get brownies in this thread????? This preggo lady likes that!

I definitely liked Kris and Matt last night. I LOVE the song Kris sung (good movie, too). I''m still a fan of Alison. Didn''t like Adam last night, although that is nothing new. I''m coming around to him a bit more, but last night was not so good. I think either Anoop or Lil will go home. I was really annoyed with Lil''s song choice. I get what she was saying about how she tried to add flavor to it, but all the songs she sings seem so OLD to me.

I figured out the trick to watching Adam. If I picture him in a musical, then I enjoy him. If I lump him into the same ''safe'' category as Danny, Anoop etc., then he kinda annoys me. I really see his future in musical theater. And overall, he''s my fave.

dialidol has Kris in the bottom although they give most of them are too close to call. Danny is the only one they are saying is def. safe.

my thoughts on last night:

Allison: strong performance, didn''t love her song choice but she did alright
Anoop- I liked it but am starting to find him boring
Adam- I didn''t like the song choice, still enjoyed the performance though..and he still creeps me out
Matt- it started okay but got wacky out of control in the middle
Danny- Boring...I know his song choices have personal meaning but it''s time for him to step up and WOW us..
Kris- loved the song..he did alright
Lil-I just don''t like her as a singer..but she was alright. I also hate it when the singers talk back to the judges. it makes them look bad IMO.

Dialidol has her up at the top so I don''t think she''ll go home yet, although I wish it would be her.

If Matt or Anoop get the boot I think the judges let them leave. If Kris or Allison are kicked off I think the Judges use the save.

oh, and one more thing. Every time I see Matt G I think of Jason Segal ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall") which, IMO, is not a good thing.

I think Lil and Anoop are going home. Lil has always bugged me, and I think both she and Anoop have been too inconsistent with their performances. I LOVE Chris, and besides having a crush on him, I think he''s SO talented. I especially loved his performance last night. I still really like Danny and Adam, too. Matt''s good but I don''t think he''ll make it to the end. Allison, she''s very talented, and I guess I could see her staying til the end. I feel like it''s still a toss up between a few different people though.

Oh, i like Matt! although last night i didn''t love him.....and i ditto the above about Chris - i thought he was excellent last night.

but quite honestly, if i had it my way, Allison and Lil would BOTH go home before any of those boys and not just b/c they are cute!
