So my fiancé and I both turn 30 in a few weeks (we’re 4 days apart) and I want to get her something nice… Our wedding is in July of 2008, so I figure I’ll have the budget to get her something really special for the big 3-0. I decided on getting her a set of diamond stud earrings. She doesn’t have any now, and her diamond engagement ring looks REALLY good on her so I figure earrings would be a good match.

Anyhow, I’m thinking about an $8k budget for them. 2 ctw, F, SI1- SI3. I could probably even do an EGL USA cert for these to stick to the budget, haha.

Oh, for a setting, I’ve chosen the Whiteflash W prong setting in platinum. I think these would look great with the e-ring:

James Allen has quite a few listed that fit your needs.
I couldn''t find a huge selection at WF right now for what you need and I don''t know if they will set JA diamonds into their settings.

Thanks, I''ll check out the site.. Most of the stones seem t be virtual diamonds anyhow, so any of the vendors can probably get them I''d imagine. I was using the JA site though for the "matched" pairs... Some of those pairs don''t seem to match up that well. Liek one will have strong Floro and one will be none... Or one might be 6.25 and the other 6.40. That seems a bit off to me... How closely should the measurements be to appear to "match?"

If you have selected Whiteflash studs for the diamonds, then I would stay in house and have Whiteflash provide the diamonds. The ACAs are fantastic diamonds.

I''m def going to buy everything from WF... When you do a PS search, most of the dimaonds are listed by multiple vendors, so anyone can get em... Its the matching the 3 thats a pain... Also most vendors dont have the certs online for anything but the top, top diamonds, so its hard to do HCA scores on them...

Oh, and I love the ACA stones.. theyre out of my price range though... For earring, she''ll want bigger for sure... =)

Steve,

I still like a challenge.

Try this pair.

Seems like WF used to have, now like JA, a matching utility.

These were found on the Price Stats board. You could put together another set there like this one, too. EGL USA? One can't tell anywhere here easily one EGL for another...but you're not likely to fall below SI3 with an SI1, so you're covered that way. Oh...and I didn't even think to try Es, but you could check it out.

No upgrades...and you'll need their thumbs up after they're called in.

OK...so I checked the Es. Presuming you''ll go this direction...and I think you''ll have to, to make budget...just have WF look at the first 1/2 dozon on the price sorted on the Price Stats list...and pick together. Based on the info from 1A, here''s a pretty set, saving you money over the above, and purportedly rated better..

Is there a better way to do this?

Ira,
Hi again! You were the one who picked out my fiancé''s e-ring stone btw. She sends her thanks.

Funny you mentioned those 2... I actually sent one of those 2 to Lesley at WF the other day. This one is not available:

I had paired it up with this one:

How far off should the MM measurements be? Is 6.43 x 648 and 6.48 x 6.52 a good match??

No clear idea....let WF or others here help.

Sorry, that's E...as in...before F

This db. With it, the admin has helped sort for you, using principles of Dave's original cut grading system.

Where did you find that??? I don''t see it linked anywhere, especially under "tools." Great find!

It''s above, under prices.

You can be led there by the link under my signature.

A full blown piece, pointed to in my "location" thread, is here.
