I just got a stone that I love (thanks MinouBijoux!!!) and I want to set it in a RHR. I found some settings i love in the $400-$600 range, but that's more than I am able to spend right now.

Any ideas on where I can get a really inexpensive yellow gold setting? it's a fat cushion shape garnet, approx. 2 cts. I'll dig out a mm ruler this weekend to measure...

Ultimately, I'd like to set it in one of the following: an x-prong solitare, something like the sally/heart of water "mistral" or "ara",a sleek bezel like neatfreak had, or an engraved/simple filgree setting. (Basically, either something sleek and modern or something organic and fluid--I know, two extremes of the spectrum).

But for now, I just want to wear and it and get to enjoy it every day:)

Any ideas? it's my first colored stone purchase and I am kind of clueless here!

I think the stone will need to be prong set as it would darken a little in a bezel. So, it needs to be someone who does decent prongs, I know I may not get  quality prongs at this price point, but they can't be hideous even at a low price:cheeky:

Either second-hand or Tripps is all I can think of at the moment. Setting prices have soared up quite a bit in the last few years. :knockout:

I have bought several rings from AmcorDesign (never had anything custom made) which all came from different casting houses like Adwar, Stuller, USNY etc. Their customer service is great and Laurie (poppyseed on DiamondBistro) is wonderful.

Here is a link to two that they have on the bistro which are under $200 which they can make for your stone size:

I would contact her and see what else she could get you for under $200!

Leibcor on ebay sells inexpensive gold settings.

You can also look on the pre-owned jewels forum and go to diamondbistro.com to see if anyone has any second hand settings for sale.
