I'm thinking about a pave halo setting for an approx 2 carat OEC. I'm afraid that it would look too big for my finger however. I have a size 6 finger, which I realize isn't small, but it's not big either. Does anyone here have a 2 carat round stone set in a halo setting that they could share hand pics of? I would love to see them!

Thanks so much!!!

Ooooh, JDGirl, that''s a good question! I would love to see a 2ct+ in a halo too...

I went to the 2-3 carat folder, but there's nothing there that's quite what I was thinking. There's kaylagee's oval with a square halo and MINE's beautiful orange center stone with a halo, but I'm having so much trouble imagining a round dimaond with a round halo on my finger. All the stores have 1 carats with halos, which look soooo amazing on my finger, but I'm thinking that putting a halo around a bigger stone might look too flashy...

Darn JDGirl, I was just doing that and I thought of the same two rings LOL.

Great minds...

Wow, I wish I could go try it on...

Check out this thread with halos. They are not all rounds, but there are many in the 2+ ct range. Definitely NOT too flashy for a size 6 finger.

I bet with REALLY small melee it would be amazing--like this one from James ALlen/DCD
(description: "Beautiful micropave'' ring with floating four prong head and split shank is especially made to fit a round diamond of two carats or greater. Bands are 3.6mm wide at the bottom, 5.4mm wide at the top, and sits 1.5mm off the finger. Center diamond in this photo is 11mm in diameter. The smaller the center stone, the smaller the width of the bands at top. "):

You''re probably looking at a spread of 12-13 mm which is huge. I have a size 7 finger and my asscher halo is way big and blingly at 12mm. It depends on if you''re confident enough to wear such a large ring. I also feel it does get in the way alot as the halo sits high up. Go to a store and try some on- you''ll see what I mean.

I''ve tried on round halo rings with all different size center stones. (my ring size is 6.25) 2 carats with a halo doesn''t look ridiculous, but it does look and feel sizeable. It would command some serious attention, no question about it, but I loved the look on me. I remember thinking that it did seem a little dressy or fancy for whenever I''d be dressed really casually, but hey, I''d get used to that and move on real fast! ; )

The ring I remember trying on that really looked too big and borderline tacky on me was a 3 carat round with a pretty thick halo.

Thanks for the first-hand (or finger) account, katrina! I know it''ll command attention, I guess I just have to decide if I''m comfortable with that. But it makes me feel good to know that someone else with my finger size thought it wasn''t too much.

WTNLVR, I wish I could try on some, but none of the stores I''ve been in carry anything above a 1 carat in a halo. And unfortunately, I don''t have much time to travel right now...I''m a law student with way too much to do at the end of the semester. Since I''ll be a lawyer shortly, I guess it wouldn''t be too hard to pull off then. I am a confident person, but sometimes I feel weird displaying expensive things in front of others who don''t have them, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the help, everyone! I''m going to go back tomorrow to take another look and see what I think...

I also wear a size 6 and am hoping for this ring...

Wow, where''s that from?

Bumming about my size 4 finger!!!!

Go for it and enjoy it!

Fay shows nearly all rings on hand... here's a couple that fit the description:

2.8 cts with sapphire halo:

And 2.24 cts - same setting.

Those are modern brilliants, so the stones may be larger by diameter than an old cut of the same weight - although this is not always true and only you know if it applies or not.

This is an old cut, 2.33 cts in a different style of halo;

I don't know the ring size of the model, only that is more than 3 (I asked about a ring once) and probably not too large. Could be 4-5.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help and advice, everyone! I went to another jewler that had an empty bezel halo that was big enough to drop the stone into. It was stunning! But there was something bothering me about it that I couldn''t put a finger on till later. Then I realized what it was. The halo style of ring, as gorgeous as it is, doesn''t look "engagement ringish" enough for me. I felt that it was a stunning piece of jewelry that I''d love to have on my right hand someday, but for my engagement ring, I need something a little more traditional -- a little more solitare-looking. It''s funny, I never realized how traditional I can be about this sort of thing before. So, now I''ve settled on another setting. At least, I think I have...

you might try posting your eternity band question in rocky talky where more people will see it..

also, do a search on eternity bands and a ton a threads will pop up with all sorts of info you might find helpful in you decision making

Thanks! I''ll do that!

I realize I''m a little late, and JDgirl''s already off the halo idea, but I thought I''d add anyways. Did you see SJR''s ring? It''s not 2+, but it is something else.

JDGirl - Did you say that your honey already has your stone?

Scintillating...

My ring is a 2.33ct ruby with a halo. And my ring size is 4.5....not sure if that helps, but you can find the thread under ruby red pave halo....

best of luck, I think it could be beautiful!

You''re so right...that ring is beyond gorgeous! I love how big it looks! You''re almost making me waiver from my previous conclusion! It''s so hard not to go for bigger...

And yeah, my BF has bought the stone, but I''m not expecting a proposal until February or so. We''re dating long distance at the moment, and the only time he ever gets to go to the jeweler is when he visits up here. Plus, once he orders a setting, it''ll be a while before it''s made and the stone is set. Not to mention that we have my birthday and Christmas all coming up before the end of the year, so I know he''ll be distracted by other things...

If I get a chance this week, I''ll try to take a picture of how the ring and stone would look on my hand. I should have thought of that earlier...

The ring I posted is a Natalie K design.... it's my favorite out of the "thousands" I have looked at.......
