Anybody ever buy a setting from this place, what was your experience like?
http://www.engagement-ring-mountings.com/engagement_ring_settings_0_272.html

The prices are cheap! The quality doesn''t look top notch, but for some of my more "fun" projects with gemstones, etc. it might be a good place to order a setting from. I probably wouldn''t set a super expensive stone in one of their settings though.

by the looks of the quality I wouldn''t even buy a cheap mounting but that''s me...

I am not sure what looks "cheap" in the above posting. When you click on the close up it looks nice. What makes a mounting poor quality?? No one has been specific. Is it the price? Generic vs. Name brand? I can understand if a setting has poor quality diamonds or not well mounted stones.. but none of the pictures at your site seem to look all that bad.. am I missing something here?
Is it a Lord & Taylor vs. Kohls type of thing? More prestige for shopping at Lord & Taylor?

I just ordered a setting from adiamor. They look pretty nice. They sell GIA/AGS certified stones also. You may want to give them a look. My ring is being created as we speak. It was cast last week and this week they are building it. Should be shipped by the 22nd. They also have a 30 day no questions asked return policy, so it can't hurt and it seems the prices are very competitive. Not sure if people think these settings look cheap, but perhaps they do to some. They look good to me.. They are less expensive than some suppliers. I don't know, I guess this is something my eyes cannot detect or perhaps some people would rather spend more for reassurance and some suppliers use that in their marketing???

When I look at the picture on this site, the mounting is poorly done. In one of them the diamond is mounted crooked, and in some the prongs are crooked.

Here's an example of what I would consider poor/unexceptable from the site:

I'm no master jeweler (hell I'm not even a jeweler) but the setting in that picture looks horrible. The 6 prongs aren't equi-distant, they didn't even try to make it equidistant. And even worse... the band is crooked, this is bad bad bad. That's just what I see, I dunno what the other poster was looking at.

Thank you. I see it now, especially in your picture between the two sides of the setting.

Both images are excellent examples of fair to barely average workmanship.

The round diamond ring has prongs not opposite eachother and not equally on each side of top and bottom. The prong tips renot all the same disatance over the crwon of the diamond. The shank is not lined up from left to right sides. 4 beads on the first center left small diamond are not all there on the same small diamond to the right. The ring may be a second hand one and that mgith account ffor the apparent lack of crisp detail on the shank, but I can''t be certain.

The bezel set ring not only has not been cleaned up and burnished inside the edge where the diamond''s crown meets the bezel edge, the undergallery is pretty much the way it came from casting. The undergallery is not polished and you can see it is just shiny but rough. These can be finished a lot better, but it is more costly.

Usually, there is a reason for a "bargain" price. Sometimes a bargain is a true bargain. It takes time to find those real ones. In defense of averge quality jewelry, one must remember that far more low to average quality jewelry is sold every day than finely made items. Budget conscious people who look at price first are the most common customers.

That bezel is pretty bad LOL!! The quality definitely doesn''t look great on these with further detail. I''m not expected a leon for these prices, but some of the stuff on here might just bug me too much.
