anyone ever do this? is it tacky?

I am considering buying a nice setting for diamond stud earrings and putting cz''s in them from Wink Jones. I graduate in 2 years and will be replacing them with real diamonds as a reward for all my hard work.

I hate the look of cheapo fake czs which is why I would like to wear something that looks decent until I can get the real thing. I also want to save for the diamonds and not buy on credit.

Have any of you done this? Is it tacky to even consider having czs even if it''s temporary?

2babycarrots- we aren''t allowed to discuss CZ''s on this forum.

personally I''d just save up and buy the earrings when you are ready. you don''t know if you''d even want the same size diamonds and I wouldn''t want to waste the money on the settings if you might not be able to reuse them etc.

Simulants are not an allowed topic on the forum, but I will address your question about the settings.

I would not reuse settings for the diamonds. Get new settings that are fitted perfectly to the diamonds rather than trying to reuse old ones. It''s just not worth it, in my opinion. I''d want the diamond seller to set my diamonds in the new settings so they would have the liability in case there was any damage to the stones.

Haha, you can count on MrsS and I giving the same advice 99% of the time!

I''d say that the moderators will decide whether to leave it. We focused our replies on the settings for the diamonds, so it might be okay.

I think the poll is okay because I''m wondering what size diamonds people wear on their ears. I just mentioned cz''s on the poll but the poll itself is about diamonds.
