Could be any number of reasons. There was a recent price break. Could be one was purchased by the vendor before the drop, and the other after.
One of them does have better numbers though (the one with the 40.6 pavillion angle). The other has a 41 pavillion angle which is not within 'ideal' range for some folks.

Are they from the same vendor? The crown/pavilion angles are more complimentary or safe on the first one so that could account for the higher price. It appears to be better cut and might have better light performance. I'd like to see reflector images of both but if those weren't available then the first diamond is a safer choice.

Additional comments like 'surface graining not shown' don't usually affect anything - they aren't the clarity inclusions that are setting the grade, and if they don't impact on the stone, they won't usually affect the price.
There are a few other possibilities for the price difference (aside from the price difference between a vvs and a vs) that have nothing to do with the diamonds themselves.
- If the 2 stones are from different vendors, it may be as simple as their costs/margins may be different.
- If both stones are owned by the vendor, but were purchased at different times (example 12 months apart), the cost price may have gone up or down / the exchange rate may have had significant movement / demand may have gone up or down / etc... these can all have a big effect on the end price.
- If the vendor has owned one stone for a long time and it hasn't sold, they may have heavily reduced the price to move it
- If one stone is owned by the vendor, and the other is not (supplier stone), you can get a price difference.
- If neither is owned by the vendor, or the same supplier, you can have two different suppliers with very different selling prices for similar items, which could be reflected in the vendors sell price (especially if they've set up their pricing as a 'cost + margin' formula - ie if stone A costs the vendor $100 from supplier A, and stone B costs the vendor $150 from supplier B, he may just put his $25 margin on top of everything, resulting in very different prices for very similar items.)

Overhead, cost of production, cost of the original rough, and many other factors can play into the pricing of a diamond. It is always great when you find a good deal, and that is why looking at the market over a number of weeks or months can be helpful in finding a good quality diamond that fits your personal budget.
