Going to a They Might Be Giants concert has gotten me all nostalgic. Any CTY alumni out in PS land?

If so, what campus and year? Any fond memories that stick with you still?

For me, I go bonkers when I hear American Pie, its the end of the world as we know it, they might be giants, brown eyed girl, and a host of other songs they always played at the dances.

I also get psyched when ultimate Frisbee is brought up. Every few years or so, I randomly remember an old CTY friend, and Google them. I'm so creepy...

"When the Jester sang for the King and Queen".... Sure am! Loyola Marymount, Stanford, and Dublin - how about you?

Skidmore, Dickinson, Wheaton, all during 89-92.

...singing this'll be the day that I die, DIE DIE DIE

Loyola Marymount 2001. Man, I wish I still had the contact info of the people I went with, I'd love to see what they're up to. (Well, one guy and I are FB friends and I just love how crazy his life has gotten. Still nuts and super creative.)

93 Hampshire college
94 Hamilton College.

First boy I ever slow danced with was during CTY 93. He's Joey in this PSA.

I'm not a chicken. You're a turkey. His nickname at camp was "toast" BC he was also in a cinnamon toast crunch commercial.

In 94, the Lipton soup girl aka apple jacks girl was on campus.

They were of course lucky to be in the presence of the infamous pintobean. :appl:

We all wanted to grow up and become CTY RAs or TAs. Mistake #1 was wanting to grow up! :naughty:

Cool! I was 95 & 96 Hamilton. Best summers ever!

"This'll be the day that I die. DIE DIE DIE!" American Pie always brings it back for me.

I wish Facebook had been in existence back then, I would love to still be in touch with my CTY friends. My closest friend and I wrote letters for a while, but it petered out by the time we graduated from high school.

CTY is on FB now and has people from all years who have joined.

Thanks pregcurious!! There's a page for everything on Fb. Why didn't I check?

I know this is an old thread, but it somehow popped up in a search for something else and now feel super old! Dickinson and F&M 1983-1984, yikes that was forever ago!

Wow Carmen! That's awesome! I was just looking at the CTY website to Linky to a coworker yesterday. I really felt old when I saw the program overhaul and different campuses. ;(

Maybe more CTY PSers will come out of the woodwork?

What is CTY??...
American Pie??..you that old?..

Center for Talented Youth. It's a summer school program run by Johns Hopkins at different universities around the US, and usually 1 in Europe. It's for students who show academic promise based on test scores. During my time, it required 97 percentile or above on a national standardized test, and SATs scores of a certain level dependent on age, starting at the age of 12? I don't remember anymore, but there should be a site for it online.
