***** Sorry!!! This is a CBI vs BGD thread *****

Hi everyone!

I would like your opinions on a recycling project. I have a trilogy ring which I had made out of a pair of GOG earrings and 1 ACA stone.

Having now seen them on my finger rather than my ears, I am obsessed with the GOG stone performance. They are both super sparkly!! I purchased them based on the GEMEX certificates that GOG used to have, and they are just astounding.

The GOG and ACA stones are not the same colour but it’s okay. The thing is that I now have sparkle greed and would like to grow the ring into a 5 stone.

I am considering a pair of CBI or BGD stones. Which would you go with? I’ve read the CBI comparison threads but I’m still feeling unsure which way I should go.

Here are some stats of the ring stones and the two contenders:

Ring (L-R in video)
G VS2 GOG
G VS2 GOG
I VS2 ACA

Contenders:
G SI1 CBI
H VS2 BGD

I’ve attached a video of the three stone ring to hopefully demonstrate the GOG stone visuals.

Stick with G colours and CBI performance (cflutist’s video is exactly what I see on my GOG stones!) or go with H to bridge the colour gap, and the BGD performance is renowned too.

Thank you.

OMG I'm a twit! Massive brain fog!! I meant to type CBI vs BGD on the title!
How can I change the title?

Sorry for the title! :(

haha! :D

If you are buying two stones, you could get one of each - then in one ring you'd have GOG, ACA, BGD and CBI, and you could learn each of their 'flavours' over time! :))

You should be able to click report concern under your first post and ask admin to amend the thread title.

As for CBi vs BDG, either choice would be wonderful. If you wanted to narrow things down, select the same color, table and possible stone diameter if you are looking for the same size stone. I would be more concerned about those numbers than I would about who I would purchase them from. Choose the vendor that has the stones you want rather than choosing a vendor and hoping they have something that would work for you.

Haha what a cool idea! I would have to name it “Masters Ring”. All of them whom I consider are the grand masters of the online diamond shopping world.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I got caught up in the wrong focus. I’ve made table comparison of the numbers, would you mind giving it a look and giving me your opinion please? Any opinions would be much appreciated. The first table with the CBI stones and the second is with BGD. Thank you.

They all seem to be in the same 'range'. If you are looking for two more stones to be the same diameter as the two you have, you need to look at those measurements too. Looks like you are on the right track - how do the prices of the stones compare?

The total price of the CBIs is $540 more than the BGD.
The CBI is higher in colour but lower in clarity.

Still can't decide, as I can't tell which ones would have more fire and brilliance. I wish I had the fortune of being in the US and able to see the pairs side by side!

From my understanding, all CBI diamonds are eye clean. And I have gained a lot of comfort after seeing a few CBI diamonds in person to feel comfortable with a Si1. I am a bit more color sensitive and would probably opt in for the higher color.

They both sell top ideal cuts. You can't go wrong with either vendor.

I second that!

I see on here that the general experience with CBI SI is that they are very clean so I'm quite comfortable going with them. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you @Dancing Fire for chiming in! Your opinion means a lot to me, as you've seen all of the ACA/CBI/GOG/BGD stones. I've decided to go with the CBI, as partly because I see that it was your choice for a friend's ring! It gives me comfort knowing you chose CBI for her after you have owned all the big four.

Thank you everyone for your contribution. CBI it is.

I'll post a picture of the ring when it's done :)

Excellent choice, putting the diamond aside you will be blown away by the level of service from Wink and his team that will add to the overall experience and confidence that many people tend not to factor into the buying process.
