Recently me and DH picked up a 2.3ct rb diamond from a local jeweller. It looked beautiful at first glance, its IF and excellent cut I color. At that time I didnt know much about diamonds except for clarity and color, cuts i thought if it says excellent then boom its awesome.
Obviously after we paid our bucks I as a woman started to research more and more about the diamond and saw that in HCA calculator it shows more than 5. I was appalled. I contacted the dealer he got mad he says he never heard of it etc etc and typically he was very very uninterested in changing it. Fast foorwarding 5 months now im reading threads here at pricescope and I feel like I need some opnions from our fellas out here and experts. :twisted2:
Let me know if i got a bang for my buck, if it looks good/bad/blue idk. I initially wanted to flaunt my crytal clear diamond and put it not on a halo setting, but maybe now i would change it into a cushion halo with a plain band. Let me know in the comments . Thank you thank you

Diamond: 2.3 ct
Price: 28000 Cad or roughly 21200 USD
Color : I
Clarity : IF (grading hrd antwerp attached below)
Cut: triple ex

Hi there! I asked for this to be moved to Rocky Talk since you will get more feedback there.

Reading your report it says "Loupe clean" for clarity. Does that mean IF?

The jeweller mentioned “internally flawless” when i asked him the same question

I just noticed you had another thread that is a duplicate. Mods, can you merge them together?

To answer your question about recuting your stone, please contact Lesley at Brian Gavin Diamonds in Houston, TX. He has a superb reputation and happy customer base (including myself) of super ideal cut stones.

A few here has had stones recut. I don't recall exact pricing but seem to recall a minimum charge and then incremental charges based on carat size. I haven't had a recut done yet. Just bought a new super ideal cut from BGD from the start.

I hate to spout any numbers but I think it would be less than $1,000. Plus your want to have it recertified with AGS as a super ideal so you will be out a few hundred for that as well. My guess is BGD will handle all that for you as I've heard of others getting a recut and the redone diamond being qualified as a Signature series and labeled as such with BGD upgrade policies to boot.

While cost is minimal it will likely require you lose some carat weight/size. Many people aren't okay with that.

I'm sure Lesley and Brian can give you an exact cost estimate and a rough approximation of final carat weight/size after the recut of you talk with them.

Before you go down this path I would advise you to determine how much you do or don't love your stone and if it's worth all the cost, lost time without your stone and reduced size for more sparkle.

Whatever you decide, your pics are pretty as is.

I'm not sure if he does it or not but @Wink with High Performance Diamomds (HPD) would be another I'd recommend if he does.

He's a true diamond enthusiast that sincerely cares about his clients, and they too produce gorgeous and some of the best super ideals under their Crafted by Infinity (CBI) line.
